The fact that a new airport is going to come up quite a distance from the existing city has been something known to everybody for a long period of time. If the government and local municipality authorities have not been proactive enough to ensure connectivity of the city and its peoples to the new airport why penalise the BIAL? Work on the road to connect the city to Devenahalli has been \"under progress\" forever with no clear end in site. Nor has any attempt been made to ensure that some other form of public transport be made available. Even if its just something as simple as hourly or half hourly pickups from specific pre-identified locations in the city by the spanking new gleaming range of AC\'ed Volvo buses that the KSRTC runs.
There has been no effort that has gone into making sure that the new airport will be a success from day one. Instead we have new campaigns launched every week or fortnight by newspapers like the newest of flavours at the local icecream shop. Is there no sancitity to a written and signed contract? Is this what doing business with the Indians will always amount to? Are we more proficient at making excuses and weasling our way out of things than finding solutions? In the hope that we will look to finding solutions - intelligent ones that do credit to our beautiful city -
