Bangalore to Bengalooru – A Big Bang or a Whimper?

" The Kannada cosmos is so rich, varied and plural that no intelligent, sensitive, Kannada speaking individual would ever feel maimed or incomplete for being a part of it. This should be reason enough to celebrate Kannada Rajyotsava with confidence,...

chandrasekhar this guy is sick of something, he is hell-bent on proving that whatever he thinks is kannada or belonging to 'Karnataka' is right and the others are bad

I was just going through all his blogs written by 'DP Satish' and was shocked to see his writings reflecting his mean attitude unlike the Kannadigas i have seen,
his views on Narayana murty, thought of writing it there
- Why cant instrumental version be played when the people in the gathering do not know the lyrics
- Does this author wake up every 15th Aug and 26th Jan and stand up and sing the anthem along with the PM and president.
- common just grow up and start accepting the facts and be in a real world
as other friends rightly point it is because of these sick and senile people that after a legendary hero(only a film star) died there were riots and even after a year - people were fearing for some communal disaster, i dont understand the feelings of these sort of rabble-rouser kind-a journalists.

Please god save us from these kinda people.

Nagesh Kumar C S My dear Sathish,
I am a kannadoga From Bangalore for 4 decades now living in Chennai. If anyone is 'complex and fanatical' it is you and not Chennai, as I, like many thouand Kannadigas have not found any form of discrimination or marginalization whatsoever. Even Hindi booming and doing well now in Chennai City.
Get your facts right..or ask the residents...

Anil Kudos to Mr. Satish.

Lot of the replies bravely bring out the fact there is the nexus of evil or axis of evil (toi/ndtv/itbt) who are hell bent on tarnishing the image of kannadigas. In their heart of hearts they feel they are too good for kannadigas and in fact we are victims of discrimination in our land. They make a big fuss when an indian in america is called a macaca or when laxmi mittal faced hurdles trying to acquire arcelor steel. These hypocrites when in India indulge in even worse racial discrimination in bengaluru. The deliberately show nonkannadigas on air when interviewing blore populace, deliberately mispronounce Kannada town, city names as well as names of people, but are extra cautious when it comes to names of other South Indian states so as to not offend the sensibilities of the "English-speaking Dravidian."

more Ashutosh Mr. Satish,
With due respect, I feel somehow you want to annoy the so-called 'outsiders' and you seem to be very unhappy with the outsiders. Somehow I can sense from your article that you are blaming outsiders for the troubles in Bangalore. You seem to be happy about Hindi FM station doing Bad. Is Hindi not your National Language?
Do you think the people who caused Bagalore Band for three days on Dr. Rajkumar's death were outsiders? As you yourself have said that 80% inhabitants here are local guys, Do you think whole trouble is getting caused by them only? How did you know that outsiders have no attachments with the city? I know many outsiders who have come to Bangalore, not to make money, but to be a part of Bangalore. I don't think the common people are afraid of loosing their city to outsiders because somehow insiders earn hefty amount of money just by renting their house without paying any tax on that income. Most bakery shops and restaurants are running with a wider crowd from outsiders. So in my view its win-win situation for both insiders and outsiders. Let me know your views on this. All, please don't feel outsider or insider. We are indians and will remain indians.

VSM It seems like the problem now is not about the change of name, but a fundamental dis-harmony and a feeling of separatedness. It is good to be passionate about several things we believe in, but not at the cost of spreading hatred around. We need to move on - there are bigger things to worry about.

sharankumar Satish

By writing this article you have tarnished the image of Kannadigas. I dont think you have done justice to kannadigas. Average kannadiga is very friendly and moderate in their thinking. But a small fraction of the people who are provoking chauvanistic attitude which will not succeed.
As regards to referring neighbour cousins. I think you would have done better by not dividing india any more.

In a global village all of migrate to places where opportunities exist.

If the same yardstick has to be applied, and if americans decide to say mannin maga .... all the kannadigas have to return back to Bangalore... same from Bombay, same from Delhi, same from Chennai and so on...

I totally disapprove your statement - We in India should promote our Unity in Diversity and talk more of Indian ness than tamilian, kannadiga, telugu, mallu, etc.,

Growup Kid.....

Bangalooru So, people are irritated with the name changing. Hey outsiders, atleast you had some emotional touch with Bangalore, good that you are concerned now and not when your cities had their names stolen!
By changing only name anything happens? Nothing?? How about changing your sir names atleast now??

Arvind Has any of you noticed the similarity of Kannada script and Devanagari script ?

Turn the following kannada letters through 90 degrees clockwise and see if you can notice the similarity with the corresponding Devanagari letter ( emoving the top line in Devanagari script) :

Ra

Ga

Sa

Ka

Babu "It is not complex and fanatical like its neighboring ' Dravidian ' cousin Madras. "

Can you please justify the above statement?
I can't remeber the last times when other state people where burnt in Chennai or riots againsta any particular state people in chennai? Seems too familiar. Maybe in Bangalore. (Oh! That was 10 years back! Hmmmmm)
