Vijayeendra will it be any issue if a 25+ year old person walks in to the nearest polling booth near his residence and exercises his voting right showing his valid passport or driving license as identity ?
The system should simplify the process rather than complicating the most important duty of a citizen.
Think !

Lubna Kably Hello,
While I respect you for doing what you think was right, I think you have a right to vote for the party you think is best. You are a citizen of India, with full voting rights. At the same time, you can ensure that in your profession you are not swayed by your personal preference. This is true professionalism. Running away as you seem to have done, isn't.
I think the Election Commission did a great job by even providing for a help desk. I wish more people had voted and that you had used your vote better.

V Subramanian Such flippant and irresponsible way of casting your vote does not do you any credit...either as a journalist or as a citizen. Voted for a Bat indeed !

Vik Thanks for the update to your blog..I still believe you neither have to be flippant in your choice nor vote just for the sake of voting. You are as much a citizen as anybody else and you have a choice to vote for who you think is right.. you just dont need to talk about your choice like i dont tell anybody who i voted for..thats secret ballot for you! Journalists need to choose their words carefully.. probably more difficult than one thought in todays 24 hour blogging world.
thanks

Tech90201 Caste plays a major role in Karnataka Politics. I am shocked to hear Former Chief Minister saying that his party will get 30 to 40 Seats. This is disgusting. Again you will see his father running to Delhi to strike a deal with single largest party. We the people should give mandate to either BJP (I am a strong supporter of) or Congress. Devegowda and his sons are unfit to rule Karnataka. People will loose interest in election if there is an Hung Parliment. Finally GOD SAVE KARNATAKA FROM USELESS FOOLS LIKE DEVE GOWDA and his SONS.

Amit Radhakrishnan The preparations for the elections in my opinion was a total sham. Aty the age of 21, my first chance to exercise my vote was a disappoinment due to the negligence of the concerned authorities.

With great zeal I set out to include my name in the electoral rolls in December last year and the authorities at the Revenue office refused to accept the form as they claimed it would be collected by officials at my residence (something that never happened). Finally after 3 attempts, on 5th April after my form was accepted and I was told I could get my Voters ID Card in a few weeks. But on that fateful day, my name was still not on the rolls at the center where the cards were being issued and many others like me were told that our names would be included in the revised rolls by 1st May and that we could vote without the Voter's ID Card too.

Today, with great enthusiasm I walked down to the polling center only to have my hopes dashed. The final list at the polling both was the the one updated on 31st Jan and thus I could not vote. On enquiring why the fresh list was unavailable, the blame game started and I was told it was the BBMP's job.

Many more individuals like me would have faced the same and that shows the entire exercise of revision of electoral rolls has been a failure. It raises questions in ones mind if the entire process was fair in the first place!

Will I cast my vote the next time? For that I will have to do a good job convincing myself...

Aniket You just revealed the candidate whom you voted for. And that too to the entire world, here on this much frequented news site. That's against the ethics of democracy, and maybe you should not have done that.

Aman Its quite sad that as a journalist you did not do any background research before voting. Even if there was a 90% turnout but 60% of them were people like you there would have been no use of the election. You just admitted that you abused your right to vote. THere is no point voting just for the heck of it. Note: I am not a JD (S), Congress or BJP supporter
