I walked in for my interview with Amitabh Bachchan with a thumping heart. Would my hero live up to my expectations? Through my growing up years, I had lived in his shadow. I had cried with Vijay, I had sung... Read The Article
AB is a cultural icon from the Gangetic belt of India. Who says that you have to relimquish your values and sense of being in order to be a 'modern' Indian? Just look at Amitabh Bachchan. It is one thing to move about like a driftwood and it is another thing to grow like a tree, well rooted. It is this conflict between a practising modern Indian and quasi religious modernist's/ communists wielding convent sophistry and disguised socialism that has brought AB now in direct conflict with the forces averse to religiosity in the land of Bharat. Bachchan's marry like a devoted and prosperous Hindu family should. Yet the protest is not against the lavishness of the ceremonies (for they were austere compared to his stature) but for his visiting temples and consulting astrologers. For God sake if a Hindu ceremony means worshipping the elements and nature then it does not imply marrying tree, matka or match box. This is tribalism not jounalism . We look forward to people like Bachchan, APJ Kalam and many other stalwarts to pass on their wisdom on the younger generation with 'force of character' and direct confrontation, if need be. Move on from reel life to the land of Bahrat, sir. Time beckons you.

I saw your interview, you did a commendable job, I remember you asking Amitabh the question about the Land and instantly I could see the confusion in his Face and it showed that he was not comfortable with that question. You are very much right in saying that Jai is dead but Amitabh is Alive. An Intriguingly interesting blog, keep up the good work Bhupendra !!!!
