Alive and punching in the land of Bahadurs! Reloaded

I had written this post almost two years. And I felt that in the midst of the Prashant Tamang -RJ Nitin controversy this one finds some relevance again. But this one's less controversial for I have written about my friends...

sapu Deborshi, I have had the oppurtunity of living in more than a couple of northeastern states for durations spanning between one to three years in one place as I belong to the family of the Indian security forces. These experiences have been really enriching and satisfying. Differences are surely there. I am as much a foreigner in the north east as you are in the heartland. This means at times you receive the hospitality extended to important guests of honour and at other times you sense a feeling of being treated as an outsider. However, at the core of the heart both the guest and host fully realise that there is a stronger and all pervading bond between them; and that is the unbreakable bond of nationality. Yes, we are all Indians first and only next are we tamilians and punjabis and assamese and biharis.

pradeep its true that people from certain parts of our country look different. but do physical features really count in this fast changing world? ethnic problems are a bane. being type cast as a madrasi or a marwadi at times hurts. it hurts not only the ego but sentiments too. when this taboo crosses its limits, people do not tolerate.
sensing trouble, there are people who try to use the demonstrations for their own petty gains.
the only solution-
we must integrate north-eastern india better with the rest of our country. they must be supported in all their endeavours. socially, financially, economically, culturally, the people of north-east must be respected and connected with us.
there are no second rate citizens in our country. all are equal as humans. prasanth tamang's feelings are genuine. lets hope such things do not occur in our proud democratic, civilized, multi cultural india.
