How do a few hundred innocent seasonal daily wage earners stand on the way of United Liberation Front of Asom's struggle for sovereignty for Assam? The question flies on the face of the barbaric carnage that an outfit of a... Read The Article
Bravo Manmohan. You are the man sir. Wipe out the terrorists from the face of India so that Indians can enjoy life just like americans and europeans. A better approach would be to bring in mainstream whole Indian populce and not leave the northeast aside from the rest of India. Once people dont feel isolated they would be more open to India and resist these filthy elemnet who perpetrate crimes against the poor and helpless.

It is really sad that ULFA is resorting to such tactics to grab attention. What is needed is firm approach from from our government with a no nonsense attitude. If the army is given the go ahead to deal with militants in a stern way then this problem can be solved quickly.

This is sad and at the same time shameful for nation and particularly for Biharis. Everyear hundreds of biharis becomes IAS officers, hundreds of Biharis pass out from IITs and IIMs but they ignore the state and work for forward states like maharashtra and gujart or bluechip companies in Silicon vallery or banglore. But attitude of common biharis or UP wallas alienate them from the locals of the area where they settle for bread and butter. One of my bihari friend who always attend the meetings of "UTTARBHARATIYA MAHASANGH" in mumbai told me that the senior members of this group always say that they taught maharashtrians to wear clothes, cut hair. One day they will win the Municipal corporation election and demand to make mumbai a separate state. This kind of attitude is also a major factor behind their killings.

You are so kind to point out the attitude of those killed it would have been nice if patriotic Indian like you would have spared even one line on the attitude of the killer! Sir, it was butchery by anti national forces who are challanging the unity of India.

It is sad!! for those who got killed, for those involved in killings and of course for the nation particularly for the Assamese! For those who are involved in the killings, it is a point of no return for whatever reason- be it the ideology (may say as misplaced), highs of youth of considering / feeling all powerful, pent up emotion due feeling of deprivation , betrayed, ..Please ask youself, if you care "For whose benefit are you doing this??" Definitely not for the people of assam, and most certainly not for yourself. You are being manipulated, you are used as pawn in the game plan of some force over whom you do not have any control. please donot allow somebody to play with your life, because you will live only this life which is shorter than you think. There are so many who really care for you. If you think that you are doing this for Assam, the people of assam then you are greatly mistaken. I am writing this because I sincerely wish at least somebody will read this, pause and think "is this worth"?

Being an Assamese residing in Delhi,i'm ashamed of these ruthless killings. It's high time the politicians look beyond their short sighted political ambitions. Also, the civil society specially the indigenious youth should stand up & voice their opinion that this kind of violence has/is/will never ever be patronised by them.In the 21st century i'm pained to see the so-called political leaders endlessly misleading & working against the interest of all the legal citizens staying in Assam, instead of wooing investors to the state which is so bleesed with both natural & human resources.Friends,Countrymen/women please, can we stop backing these politicians & bureucats & allowing them to mint money by raping our State,Country & our voice? Should we continue to remain as slaves of their actions & inactions and fight among ourselves,6 decades after the Bitish have left?

Hindi and Hindi ppl should confine themeselves to their BIMARU states
( Posted: Wednesday, January 10, 2007 at 09:57 )
Unfortunately,it reads like a statement from ULFA spokesperson. The state in order to develop has to obtain, retain and maintain a more pluralistic outlook. The so called outsiders are making discernably significant contribution towards the development and progress of the state. Let's be responsible, pluralistic and reasonable in our thought and comments. Such opinions and judgements are not in the best interest of the Indian Polity.

Government Should create enough infrastructure for these Hindi ppl so that they can earn their livelihood in their own state So that these ppl wont get killed or beaten elsewhere.

Do all the Assamese stick to Assam for lifetime. See for education, work, to have a good life, let things run as they run in a free economy and society. If a particular state is not faring well for some reason and people come to your place to earn livelyhood, let me tell you when people in your society do well, they also tend to run out of Assam. Dont forget their are Assamese students in Patna engineering college as well, as for that matter any part of India. There is something in your state that only rickshaw pullers are getting attracted and not student. This is not to hurt anybodyu, I do not belong to any community concerned here but I have been in a lot of cities of India, including Imphal, Guwahati, Aizwal, Shillong, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Bhopal, delhi, Meerut, Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai... almost everywhere... just to learn that you pull the kind of lot of which you are worth of. There is no time in big cities to fight for these non issues. Assam has resources, its no better than Bihar if it cant put it to good use and become a hub. It has natural talent, then why are industrialist afraid of coming there. ULFA sir, that is the reason. U people have more bandhs and strikes then working days. Please apply some thought and rethink. North east natural beauty is the most unseen part of this world. Do you realise that.

The issue is that, the ULFA has forfeited the moral authoity to prosecute the movement which it started in 1979.The basic plank was'the eviction of BD illegal immigrants'.The primary plank has receded rather got relegated to the background.Understandably so,now that they are enjoying the warm hspitality of BD estalishment which harbours interests inimical to the the Indian Union under the forceful and manipulative directions of ISI-DGFI-DFI and fundamentalist plethora combine. It's so brazen and illogical a stand to maintain, which considers the Hindi speaking components of the Assamese society as alien. To top it all, even the Indian Army has been branded as illegal immigrants. What a massacre of the sense and sensibility of an organisation which is in the grip of ISI and talking of so called liberation of the Assamese society from the oppressions of the Indian state.Bihari labourers provide an easy target and a soft one at that.ULFA is characetrised by a philospohy which has degraded the basic ideology to a form which guides it to being an organisation of goons and lampoons who want to continue their buisness of extortion and corruption to support their own parasitc life styles as also of their remote control wielding masters ensconced in Bangladesh. If they are surviving in their present corrupted and distorted form ,is wholly due to softness of the Indian state which is otherwise capable of terminating the problem conclusively if it desires to do so and the political parties rise above the petty political interests to vouch for the national interst.Unfortunately, it(ULFA) has become a proliferating buisness or for that matter an Industry, which serves the interest of a large spectrum of the society.

I would like to remain the readers it was only last month Manmohan Singh offered ‘safe passage’ to ULFA terrorists, if they come for talks. With a spineless PM like this who has no strength or courage to face the terrorist with iron hands, it’s hard to contain terrorism anywhere. Third-rate governance cannot give First-rate response to terrorism.
A very late reaction to the illegal migrants’ problem and repeal of IMDT act which should have been thrown out long time ago is the main reason why there is large-scale insurgency problem in Assam in particular and in North-east in general. Following are the main policy decisions that Indian government have to be taken.
1)Occupy a part of Bangladesh bordering Assam to re-settle the illegal migrants there, as Israel has done with West Bank in Jordan. 2)Hunt down all the terror leaders wherever they are and decimate them, let Human-rights watch be dammed, and encourage moderate leadership in Assam to replace the vacuum. 3)Allow, Indian and Foreign industries to set up establishments to make Assam and North-East to be stakeholders in Indian Economic development. 4)Manmohan Singh has promised to ‘amend’ Armed Forces Act (special) to make it more ‘humane’. That is bullshit! Nothing should be allowed to curb the Armed forces in dealing with terror situations. 5)Dismiss the Tarun Gogoi government, which has proved to be useless in dealing with the current situation. Until the terror infrastructure is destroyed no talks with anyone. Dismantle PCG, it’s useless and is counter-productive. Talks have given time to terrorist to consolidate and to strike with impunity. 6)Recruit Ex-military personals to form local constabulary to fight terrorist on their own grounds. Give them arms to attack both terrorists and its supporters across borders.
Last but not the least, search and destroy all the ISI-aided terror camps in B’Desh and put B’Desh government on notice – ‘Either you are with us or against us'
