Compromise or cricket?

So what is it that World Cup 2007 will be remembered for? The highest World Cup total, (India against Bermuda), the early exit of sub-continental giants (India and Pakistan) or the murder of the Pakistani coach Bob Woolmer under suspicious...

Amit Let us talk about Greg Chappell
THE MIND CHAMPION
The man who says Cricket is played in the minds.
The tough no-nonsense character from Australia.

DOES GREG CHAPPEL KNOW ANYTHING BEYOND LEFT-HAND BATTING????

If he did and was as tough as he wants others to be...
He would never have asked his younger brother to bowl underarm to prevent a tailender hitting a six to tie a match.

Well sir, our esteemed coach not only is a feeble cricketing character, he also knows nothing of BOWLING and is scared and ridiculously defensive playing 7 batsmen even against Bermuda... AND THESE GUYS TALK OF CHARACTER..HUH

Raghu Excellent way of bringing reality to the front. I completely agree with you when you start with the topic of intense training.

Nothing has changed in the game except the publicity and exposure. The qualilty of cricket has gone up in terms of extraordinary fielding and destructive batting. The basics still remain. What has changed in Austailia, South Africa and New Zealand is the willingness, acceptance and adopt to the pace of the game.

The only way Indian cricket can survive is to:
a) Simulate international cricket on Indian grounds
b) Focus on fielding, fielding and fielding

We all love the game despite humilating defeats of our players. I'm sure things will change, change for good.

Ramith Have you ever wondered why you classmate who tops all exams continues to do so all the time and you are just playing catch-up by trying different things. Well the reason is, he has learned to excel every time by following his daily chores, without being spectacular and different. He doesn't have fear of losing, he wins because he knows how to. Indians should forget everything, things to do, to be done and things not done, in a very disciplined way they should learn to win and follow it till end, nothing else matters.

Ispita Saha I fully endorse your view Bhupender cricket in India is a religion and the public at large has a short-lived memory.

Abhishek Who killed cricket in India. We, Yes - We are the people who killed cricket in India. We are really great at making gods of mere mortals. We drink, eat, wear, cut our hair in exactly the way our champion cricket players do. Companies due to this behavior of ours spend and give loads of money to these mortals who with these extra tons of cash go ahead and build restaurants, hotels, palatial homes, buy Ferraris as far as the focus on the game, well that had to be lost. Even in the Caribbean all we could see was photographs of our crickets resting by the pool, sea shore, playing volleyball and enjoying life.

Has ever an Indian captain said “I am going there to Win and only Win”? Why doesn’t a Indian captain face the new ball and lead the team to victory cause he is busy writing his losing speech as long as the first few guys are facing the brunt. Now we know why the speech is mostly so small. Thank god the Indian cricket captain is not an army officer.

So how can you and I save the game? First, stop eating, drinking or buying any product these guys endorse. This will lead the companies not to endorse them and players don’t get any free cash. Second, Force the cricket control board to be transparent they too have too much money to let the focus go any where beyond the money. Third and final, each player should perform else get his out of the team. History holds no meaning. Can’t you see that most of the players are in team just for the money?

Please don’t be blind and understand it is you and I who will give a new birth to the Indian religion

suman Why u name the only 2-3 players?? Even players who are playing ranji matches are doing commericial ads and they don't shoot once in while not all the time.
the ex cricketer who had no money using this oppoertuinity as cricket expert and earnig extra money by givigin some rubbish comments No all are giving unbiased comments. that too they preaise their own heroes. even ppl like mandira bedi, charu shamra are using thihs chance to get moeny and publicity
when cricket feve is there not only players but many ppl earn extra money and try to get publicity through media.
WHY U BLAME THE PLAYERS???

more cricket fan Please treat cricket as a game and cricketers as human beings !! Don’t treat them as GODS when they win and please don’t treat them as SHITS when they lose ! And TV channels for just making money are making humiliation of these wounded players to the maximum extent. Please lets put an end to this World cup issue.
Wishing Indian Cricket that it regains
its lost pride and glory sooner!!!!

more krishna To Bcci and press i like to express our fealings our players r very wost in fealding and bowling we should improve in both the feild and now a days our players batting also became very wost batting performance in the world ,ie is the main fact we cant able to qualify for super 8 Note : BCCI should change charman selection commitee mrVENSARGAR AND BCCI SHOULD APPOINT SELECTION COMMEETE CHAIR MAN AS OTHER because he has same responsibilaty as COACH AND captain we should not blame coach we should blame players 90% players mistake

in our thought the step should be taken to built indian team like aussies team

3 raina, kaif, karthick, sharma want to play in our team

4 yuva will be our vc
5we should drop dhoni and harbajan ie karthick in place of dhoni as keaper harbajan place chawla r power
6 if we like to have foreign coach 1st preferance is dave wate more 2nd is stewe waugh
7 we want bowling coach at juniore level that is india junior players walsh r akram

more Sulla India is a great cricket team, just because they didnt perform in one match, every one is blaming everyone.
Come on, you are not true INDIAN PATRIOTS. If you want to See India play, do the following

1. Make uthappa the captain
2. Make Tendulkar the vice - captain
3. Remove Dhoni, and bring back srinath, and deep dasgupta.
4. Make agarkar the main bowler and give him the first 10 overs to bowl.
5. Give 10 overs to Tendulkar, ganguly and sehawag each
6. This way you bring in more batsmen and put kaif at the top as opener.

If you follow the above, India would have thrashed everyone. Tendulkar is one of the greatest batsmen to play the game, so thats that.

Thanks Dears for your time..

rajiv There have been lots of critics regarding Indian team’s early exit in the world cup like they could not perform under pressure situation, they spend lots of their time before cameras for add film ,poor team selection ,poor coaching and captaincy. I would like to bring to your notice two important things which are very crucial that our team lagged.
1) The inability of the team to take the match up to last 2 to 3 overs. We could easily predict the result in the middle of the second innings as in the case with Sri Lanka. This is happening may be for a very long period and such things would not happen in the case of teams like Australia, south Africa, newzeland, srilanka. Indians should have a game plan according to the situation and must take the game to the last 5 overs so that there may be a chance to win the match.
2) My second point is a comparison between India and rest of the teams playing in the world cup. First thing that comes to everyone’s mind is fielding apart from that it is the inability of our players to take quick singles, which the rest of the teams did exceptionally well and most of the teams have improved on it drastically. More emphasis must be given to quick singles i.e. playing the ball with soft hands and run, take a single for a ball goes to mid on and mid off. Importantly they should have converted ones into twos & twos to threes. This could have really averted pressure on both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka match.
May be in future the team should work on the above said things. We should look for specialized one day batsmen who would be good at doing the above.
