more Madhukar Bhupen.. it's good article.. I believe it is not to do anything with TV advertising. It is all about the Beauty of Soccer. I donot think it as decline of interest in Cricket, but certainly emergance of aleternative sport Soccar. Iam sure, we will see Indian Soccer team playing World cup in 2010

Naveen Hi,
I can relate to what you wrote on the cricket of the 1980s. I too used to feel the same way.
Btw, you are doing a good job on ''Face the Nation'' in Rajdeep's absence. I pray CNN-IBN stays #1 for rest of time. You guys rock!

Shafi I won't agree on this point. (However New age consumerism is pushing up other things and I will agree with you on that)

New-age consumerism alone can't make it happen to this level. ESPN tried to create big Euphoria about Hockey League matches and is not that successful to get the audience hooked on to the channel. So Football as the game has something in it which brings in audience like you and me to get hooked on and watch at Mid-night.

My perception:

News channels are trying to join and cash-in on the big event like FIFA rather than saying people are watching FIFA due to News channel.
