Dada is no more a dada

What's the most enduring image of Sourav Gangluy? Him standing at the Lords balcony, waiving his shirt before millions of TV viewers all across the world or him standing at short mid wicket chewing his nails, or him...

Amit Kumar Why all this row about Ganguly, common everybody he is done with his cricketing career, he is no longer focused on game, argues a lot and his fitness is big problem. We all saw this in the recent tour of Pakistan; he was struggling and was afraid to play Shoaib and Co., ultimately throwing his wicket when he was needed. He could have won the hearts of selectors when he had a chance to open in the first test; instead he was spotted arguing with captain and coach.

So I think he should come forward and support the youngsters and become a role model instead of crying like a schoolboy. And to all the fans of Ganguly (Calcutta) stop all the nonsense like burning idols of Greg, it shows how desperate Ganguly is to get into the Indian team.

So I request the media and countrymen not to make matters worse. A player should be selected based on his form and love to the country. I don’t see both of them with Ganguly right now.

saravishal Ganguly is a victim of politics. He had promoted so many youngsters well before what the selectors and the so called present coach of India is saying. True Ganguly has got aggression on his side but he delivered good returns to his country. Sad present Indian team is dictated by its coach and the captain is nothing but a yes man of coach. Dravid is a very good batsman but when it comes to strategies and bold decisions he is found wanting and Chappell wanted this to make him as the supreme authority. The most successful captain of Indian cricket does not deserve such an exit and it is time that lesser known people such as Kiran More should shut their mouths as they do not have any right to discuss about a player of the calibre of Ganguly. Ofcourse he is second to Tendulkar on his batting averages in onedays and most of his 22 centuries are match winning knocks where he even outscored Tendulkar at times.

Dash Aggression, don't-give-a-damn attitude were the impression he created among his rival captains and also won plaudits from them.

Certainly one of the finest off-side batsman to be remembered for a long time. But the same cannot be said about his fielding which certainly stood against him time and again.

Could have avoided the events which have happened around him for the last 4/5 months by more mature behaviour and deserves better farewell.

kobita The selectors could have dropped Laxman and included Ganguly in the team. It is evident by this Ganguly is a victim of politics in BCCI. Ganguly deserves a place instead of Laxman.

pradeep One should never forget what he did for his country. He should have been given an oppurtunity for a gracious exit. This is really sad for cricket. Hope to see and hear him as an expert commentator soon

Badri Dada will always remain a DADA of INDIAN CRICKET. As the Nick 'DADA' suggest, he has been both, a Big Brother to all the young boys in the team when he took the Reins as a captain and later down the years, the dada, the Ruffian by bringing politics into Indian Cricket.

C.P.Rajagopalan What is different in the Indian cricket team of today compared with teams of the yesteryears is its aggression. Who brought in this aggression ? Not, John Wright, for sure. Not Greg Chappel. Not Rahul Dravid. Yes, Saurav Ganguly is to be singularly credited for bringing this aggression into the team. For this alone, he deserves his place in the side and his captaincy.

Prdeepan Please stop calling Ganguly as "GOD", when there were & are batsmen like Tendulkar, Richards, Gavaskar, Chappell, Lara and of course the Don.
A batting God wouldnt bat the way Ganguly did in the last 4/5 years.

Shantanu Singh I am a great admirer of saurav ganguly and whatever happened with him during the last few months is really depressing. I know that there may be a darker sie to it tooo.... but who doesnt have bad patches? this is ganguly's. How can ppl say that his bad patch is prolonging a bit too much has the BCCI given him chance to play. The same man who used to hit flat miraculous sixes is fighting for his place in Indian Cricket team?? the same man who was next to God on the off side is an article of amusement. I think we Indians should evaluate ourselves do we really have a good sports man spirit?????
