Now a days media is playing a major role for cricketers publicity because they always think about their TRP's as they won't get this by showing hockey on their screen. If we really need to change the thinking and people to know better about our national game then media sholud come up with more stories on hockey.

hey ppl what is your problem?? I don't get u... what if he doesn't about that person?? Do you all know all the important people in history from India??? I mean...if you want ppl to know about someone towards whom you have great respect then just tell ppl about him... As I heard mouth publicity is the best way to publisize anything... so go on... and all the best... And this in no way means that I love cricet... I infact started hating it since the last world cup... And due to the lack of hipe... I don't know much about hockey and I can say I just know how to spell HOCKEY!!!

Really it is matter of shame for our country. Here i want to share some facts with the viewers. Goalkeeper's performance was really bad.Hav u notice whenever any ball came,he first lay down, despite it may get deflected also. Some sort of politics was going on. Hockey is a team game and it shd proceeds with maximum passes, not with bundle of dodeges. Everybody in the field thought that they are going to next major Dhayan Chand in the field. We are blaming for IHF presidend KPS Gill and coach. But what we can do if for a team of 16 players-15 official members has to be sent to the olympic. During selection process, these old veteran players influenece the selection decisions. We forget Mr.Rajpal singh(SAI coach) due to his effort we were able to win the WorldCup championship.Later we went for hiring the Australian Coach. This is bag of mix feeling of bad and Good. Good in the sense that atleast in Cricket India is shining. Leave about the rest of the game.

U cannot blame cricket for hockey debacle. The thing u cant force ppl to watch hockey, if they dont like. evn espn's venture PHL was a total failure.IHF is to be blmaed wats hapened for ur hockey, whn team is not winninf cups they shud come wit new ideas to improve the standrads. There were many incidents of caoches & players being illtreated by IHF. team selection has become monopply of some in the federation . Ind has got gr8 talents & with proper coachin, new technology & management can bring oru hockey to normal state. Unlike our football, whre federatiion cant do much, becoz of the wide gap of playin stds bet our plyers & rest. need proper trainin to how ot play well in astro turf. for all these we need money..only govt can do anythin on that front...

We need to support the players who played the game in past and present. poor players, still they are palying inspite of knowing that there is no future. would anyone of us could have choosen a career option which has no future, but those hokey players did. it should be a wake up call for them to give up the sport.
Note: I dont know why only media is so interested in a dead sport. Board lost interest, govt lost interest, people lost interest. players shall soooooon follow.
thanks,
I dont know why only media is so interested in a dead sport. Board lost interest, govt lost interest, people lost interest.

i really feel sorry for the game. But my friend ravi it is our national game we should not forget that.We are also equally responsible for that a boy learns the word cricket from the womb of a mother afather buys him a bat that is our common house hold scenario. The govt is not at all interested in uplifting the games only cricket is sport .Do u think asport is all about earning revenues.A land of huge population struggle to win a gold medal in olympics it is hockey today the same fate will be met by other sports too.It is a wakeup call for the government to give funding to other games too for the upliftment of the sports. thank you

In all the Cricket euphoria, we forget hockey in which India was a dominant force to reckon ( feel sad about it to say in the past). It is high time hockey regroups and rope in corporate houses to give our boys a solid backing. We need to get people who are passionate about the game rather than get power hungry mongers. We have failed miserably but let us learn from our mistakes, regroup and win back the pride and be like a hidden tiger and pounce in 4 years time. Stop the blame game and get on track. After Beijing we have many more prestigious competitions coming, show that we can rise from the ashes like a Phoenix. Please IHF clean the rot and start with one mission to regain past glory.

There is no surprise in this......... the cricket boards are vying to make the sports a big hit..... the only reason is that they are private bodies ....... after all hockey has been declared to be a sarkaree formality.... just look at the federation, the same chief for such a long period even after continuous degrading performance of the team.......... the cricketers do deserve what they are getting merely for the reason that they are private and in india sarkaree is synonymous of failure... the only surprise is that it took too long to come up..... congrates to the indian hockey federation and sorry for the players who took up this sports as their career...........

People know more abt cricket and sania mirza than hockey and hockey players.we lost our supremacy in hockey when astro turf was introduced and we began losing matches.Anand Deepika palikaland Joshna are better known than hockey players becoz of their achievements. The problem lies in our inconsistent form in hockey. Though like cricket it is also a team game ,in hockey if the team fails the whole team gets blacked out.In cricket even if the team loses and there is one good perfomance that gets noticed and people go gaga over it. This is the difrence between cricket and all other team games. Tennis became popular only after sania mirzas entry. The other games depend entirely on external support.Another reason is that most of the cricket matches played by India involve int. stars and receive absolute coverage unlike other sports. For a brief moment people watch other sports but again come back to cricket. We have to understand this reality.

need some business man like Jagmohan Dalmiya (organizational skills alone) to change the face of Indian Hockey. Remember he changed indian cricket to one of the wealthiest and popular. Its unfortunate that one of the best sport is getting erased from people's memories. while another sport is just being forced upon every channel and newspapers.

A day of Great Shame for Indian Hockey .................. Going thru the blog and reading the commments by fellow contry men, I have a mixed bag of feelings that I would like to share here,Despite being our natioanl game ;hockey has been seeing new lows every day for the past few years. I do feel we have enough talent to make us a powerhouse but the raw talent has'nt been polished to the high standard the international game requires now a days. Gone are the days of skill ; today it is more of a power play that dominates the game. One area we need to improve is physical fitness and the other is motivation for the players. There's no point blaming the fedrartion for all that has gone bad, having said that I still feel a fresh management is the need of the hour, and that too, URGENTLY !!! Vital experience by playing against top nations is a must and care should be taken to get a long term plan set-in rather than trying stop-gap arrangements. The team should hire a good coach and stick with him , there's no point changing the national coach every now and then. Last but not the least, players who have international exposure should be a part of the team rather than sitting on the sidelines, their role is vital. Fresh talent is no doubt welcome but experience can't be neglected, people who follow the game ,no matter where they live shall understand what I have just said. It's rock bottom that we have hit ; but as they say there's only one way after you hit rock bottom, and that my friends is 'UP',............. So lets have some faith in ourselves and start afresh........ God willing Indian hockey shall reach it's pristine glory again. AMEN.

Bhaiyya it's indeed a matter of shame to be unable to even qualify for olympics in hockey. This problem is a deep rooted one which is watered by enormous glamour and money in cricket. As t is said in hindi "bargad ke niche koi bhi doosra paudha nahi panap sakta",(no plant can flourish under a banyan tree), cricket's monopoly in sports in our country has gradually sidelined rest of sports. Thanks to Vishavnathan Anand and Sania Mirza to bring their respective games out of the oblivion but the future of other games and sports is undoubtedly bleak. it should be noted thata excepted kabbadi, our country is nowhere in the international main scenario in team games. Where are we heading? What is the solution? Ihtink our sports ministry has to be empowered much more and it should work for giving equal rights to non-cricket games. This problem can't be encountered alone by players but media and players together can work wonders. If other games are given enough coverage then it'll help, though slowly, but to a great extent........ On our level what the maximum we can do id to keep ourselves updated with happenings of other sports also and discussing it among social cirle. What's your opinion?
