Within minutes of Mrs Pratibha Patil being "chosen" as the UPA's candidate for president, a chain sms was floated: "After 300 years, the Marathas are finally set to conquer Delhi", a reminder that defeat in the third battle of Panipat... Read The Article
in the recent telecast of prez polls debate, you had given approximately:
50% of time to mouth-flapper singhvi (why do these congress wallas have a habit of talking too much? Singhvi, Jayanti Natarajan etc they shout at the top of their voices, and think they are right if they are loud). 25% to the bjp speaker 10% to amar singh 10% to yourself 5% to Cho Ramaswamy, who was the only one who made sense in the whole debate.
i hope you will give more time to Cho, as its refreshing to hear his views.
Who cares about Congress spokesmans' views? They dont have a view of their own, they just repeat what was instructed by the high command.
Hopefully you will distribute the time allotment next time. Also please put a modulator in Jayanti Natarajan's voice cast, its so irritating to hear her loud voice, i have a PIP and i switch channel immediately when she starts speaking.

I don’t find any strong justifications in making Her the President of India. President of India should have courage and ability to think and act beyond cast, creed, party, region and language. He / she should give us strong and vibrant leadership with right direction towards our growth and prosperity. If she is so loyal to Gandhi, She will never be able to think beyond Gandhi, leave aside Congress. And it will create unusual precedence in India. Congress and UPA are making pathetic effort to justify her candidature defending their inability to make consensus on more efficient and popular administrative candidate for example Shivraj Patil, Somnath Chatterjee, TN Sheshan, PA Sangma, Kiran Bedi and so on …

Dear Sir, This article is an excellent eye opener to all the Maharashtrians who live like a "frog in a well".I hope every Maharashtrian reads it and becomes open minded towards issues of India and not pertaining to a state.

Rajdip! you are at your usual best, always beating yourself. Congratulations on another great piece of journalism.
All holders of the highest office after Dr. Zakir Husain were non-descript. Then came Dr. Kalam, a scintillating exception. Now history is back to square one and we are being relegated to the place that we truly deserve. Mrs. Patil has been accused of default but brute vote-power will soon ensure that she is elected to the highest office even before being exonerated of such charges that may cause grave trouble for a lesser mortal.
One TV survey tells that 69% of the respondents of a survey want Dr. Kalam to get a second term and the rest are divided. How and why does the polity so blatantly ignore the vox populi? From where does the polity derive its power to suit its will? Is there a limit to the insensitiveness of our elected leaders? In the matter of presidential elections, such questions have been haunting our minds ever since some leaders had given a call to rise above party discipline and to prefer the ‘call of conscience’.

The mishaps are the party system aided by the anti-defection laws. The cause and effect theory explains it all. The congress leader has gone to the extent of saying Mr. Shekhavat is mooting defections when no such thing is involved in this poll. Why not start a debate on the history of our democracy as is being practiced?

dear tushar, why don't you mention the poison of regionalism, which is destroying the rich culture of Maharashtra. India is a country of rich culture. Every state has seen a golden past. do not talk about the literatteurs and politicians. every state has some great poet and writers. the failed states according to you, were leading states at one time. corrupt politicians are responsible for their pathetic condition. why don't you look at the present state of maharashtra which is not bright.the behaviour of thakres is pitiable and worst in its kind. be honest before commenting.

brilliant sir,
I think in the Indian history this is the first time the election of the President has become a play for the politicians filled with lot of mudslinging and disgusting political moves.
not to miss the scientist-President Dr Kalam who fell into a booby trap made by politicians.

Sir, Great Article. Only person of your stature could write this analysis and people will have to take it seriously. As we all know that you come from this state and yet you are forthright in your expression. (in the long run the state would go forward if taken this seriously.). As a 'media watcher' we must congratulate on one more account. There are plenty of instances where another english channel which keeps on promoting 'their' state and 'their' left policies, (their head belongs to that state !) and he is in the process of losing the credibility. I am sure you and your channel will go a long way and yours is THE TRUE INDIAN CHANNEL and does not belong to only one state.
