Jai Maharashtra

Within minutes of Mrs Pratibha Patil being "chosen" as the UPA's candidate for president, a chain sms was floated: "After 300 years, the Marathas are finally set to conquer Delhi", a reminder that defeat in the third battle of Panipat...

Neeraj Yes ! Mumbai was & will always be an integral part of Maharashtra. Just imagine with what power the people of Maharashtra will throw any parties Government if they even think of seperating it away from Maharashtra. Let Chennai, Kolkatta, Gurgaon, Bangalore, Lukhnow, Patna, Hyderabad be made Union terretories. How's this ? Not good na. I know. So why cry about Mumbai only ? Lets respect each others communities and do something positive and constructive for our cities, villages , our states and our contry !

Vishal Hi Rajedeep,

Reading your blog and watching your interview 3 leaders from Congress/BJP/SP. One thing which is clear to all of us across the globe is Pratibha Patil - is a Wrong Candidate for The Wrong Reasons. She has been given the job keeping 2009 elections in mind and Shekhawat factor.

Regarding allegations against Pratibha - I dont think if you are in politics in India, anyone will have a clean record, because our ethics of engagement in day to day life has degraded to such a level that everyone has commited mistakes, some of them are big and some are tiny. So this is not an issue for me, but the rational behind her selection is the main issue, considering when you have better canadidates on both sides.

My othr suggestion or feedback to you and Sagarika -
1. When your guest get a chance to speak, then please dont interrupt them, You and Sagairka sesms to do a lot.
2. Both of you use a very high pich voice which sometimes sound articifial, why dont keep it simple with a human touch.

Rest i think you are doing a great Job. Thanks to Prannoy Roy for bringing you on a national scale.

Atul Salunke Mr.rajdeep You have crafted as true maharastra sentiments.Every one is happy to see a marathi manoos as
President of India. But we should also see the reason why he or she is there.I will alway prefer Kalam over mrs patil..'Marathi Manoos' should Capture Delhi on his own strength. not on support of others JAI HIND JAI MAHARASTRA

krishna Mogaveera Wonderful article.Mr.RajDeep, you are getting matured, as a journalist, day by day like a wine. But whatever things happening related to presidents election in India is making me feel like nausea.Every Indian should fight to put this stinky, derailed, So called democracy of India, on right track.Better way to achive this is educating peope through brilliant article's like this one.But one should promote nationalism not regionalism.

Tushar Dear Devanshu,

The Maharashtrian pride is rooted in our history; when most of India was ruled by the Mughals (and I'm not minority-bashing here), the marathi's were a free people. If it is not part of your history, you will never know what it means. Our pride is also rooted in our litterateurs, our playwrights, our artists, our scientists and our sportsmen.

If you are indeed referring to any hypocrisy, you should probably reflect upon the attitudes of people who migrate to Maharashtra from other failed states.

Maharashtra, like any other state, has been let down by its present day politicians. I'm glad that we, and that includes all Indians, do not take any pride in our present lot of politicians. But, if you want to look at the progressive face of Maharashtra look at the work of Vinoba Bhave, Baba Amte, Ambedkar, et al.

Coming to the present Pratibha Patil issue, well a rubber stamp post begets a rubber stamp personality. Dr. Kalam had the politicians by their balls; what do you think are the chances that they will ever want a person of basic intelligence as a president again? And so the great Indian democratic experiment slips one more rung down the ladder ...

Jai Hind! Jai Maharashtra!!

Abhijit An excellent article that should force maharashtrians to introspect what kind of people they are electing to power. It was ironical and downright hypocratic to see Sharad Pawar sitting by Sonia Ganghi when Mrs. patil filed her nomination for presidency. Is this the same guy, who a decade ago, refused her "foreign" leadership and formed his own party? Then why is this guy in UPA government? How many women cabinet ministers his party has? How dare he insult our honorable President by saying that the later's "game is over". We maharashtrians should not be hoodwinked by this "Maharashrian women president" card. It is a shameless conspiracy to elect a "rubber stamp" president to play in the hands of UPA government in 2009 elections.
