Mayawati ko gussa kyo aata hai?

Mayawati is one of my favourite politicians. It's a Herculean task to build a political party from scratch. She along with her mentor Kanshi Ram has done that in style. So I salute her at the very outset. Why then...

Manish I really think that Mayawati is not really given the Credit for the herculian work she has done for the upgradation of the real poor people of India. Its an Irony! Apart from she being a Dalit we should also understand that she is a woman and that really makes her task more harder than we can think.
Instead of voicing applaudes after she leaves the scene, we should try to have an attitude of uplifting and boosting her morale.
All the words in the world are useless if we really dont have the feeling to understand the Subject or not willing to understand her.

Sameer I don't think terming UP beyond redemption is apt. What holds this state back is lack of visionary politicians truly committed towards the development. Modi, Chandrababu, SM Krishna they all ride on staunch development agenda. some of them got voted out of power because some unpleasant decision. But all in all, they initiated implementation of some long term policies, which their heir are bound to follow.

In UP, the home grown political leaders are obsessed with the charm of money and power, being at the top post provides them with a machinary to fulfill their wishes. Mulayam,Mayawati,Ajit Singh, kalyan Singh all seem to be falling on same line. Some with better thought process and expanded vision like Atal Bihari Vajpayee graduate to National level leaving the stinky state behind.

Mayawati, as her recent aspirations show want to be PM, and she wants to use the CM post to expand her reach beyond UP, and clinch more loksabha seats in forthcoming elections. Whether her wish gets fulfilled remains to be seen later. Though this will not take UP anywhere. When India is a huge attraction among western countries, with trade levels and investments reaching all time high,Every state is trying its best to lure investors. Be it fight b/w Karnataka and AP for s/w investments,or among Maharastra,Karnataka and Tamil nadu for automobile companies' investments.Gujarat has an edge with its petrochemicals set up and modern ports, while Haryana enjoys its proximity to National Capital.

Though UP too has got Noida, but they've failed to take it beyond. All we need for wholesome development of UP is a committed politician. Rahul Gandhi seems to be the best hope in present set-up and may uproot Mayawati's fortunes if he keeps working at grass-root levels in interior villages of UP, which is causing intense discomfort to Mayawati. His sheer charm, ability to get the PM hear the grievances of locals and connect with industry could bring a wave of change. Let's hope for better if not best

v sriharsha Well, Mayawati is now riding on the crest of TINA in uttar Pradesh. The plank on which she came to power may not work elsewhere. Her megalomaniac image and one-man (aptly) bossyism in her party has left little room for democratic norms inside and outside her party and government. She has a foul mouth and her language is simply gutter-level, fit for unlettered and ill-mannered group. Her dream of becoming the country's PM would never be fulfilled till she changes her style of functioning and behaviour. One cannot fail to admire her for her stupendous success in the elections but her misplaced confidence about her abilities and drive would pull her down with pressures from all quarters. The caste-fixation and her pathological hatred towards her political enemies would only keep her far away from achieving her ambitions. Acquiring wealth is her major greed. Coming from low-levels of povery and brough up with a sense of infeirority complex and her allergy for upper castes (however well she had succeeded in shedding her biases in the polls) would never make her a PM material. Even her stay as UP CM may not lost long. She needs a total revamp of her outlook and her approach towards her colleagues inside and outside her party and government. It's an uphill task for her. She needs to be more circumspect and humility is what she lacks. After all, her background speaks for her ill-tempered manners and language.

more Vandana Singh Hi Bhupender,
I am a Lucknowite and have spent almost 20 years of my life in the city, Aminabad and Hazratganj have been my favourite spots in the city. I therefore would like to draw this point across to you that as a woman I have never felt more unsafe here than I have felt in any other part of the country.

Also I don't find the environs suffocating by any chance. Now the inference that I draw from your judgements about the city is that since I was roaming freely and fearlessly on the roads in Lucknow either I am not a woman or the place you are talking of is not the Lucknow I was born and brouth up in.

vijay Mayawati is a perfect politician. She is corrupt, divisive and adopts double standards. The "chameleonic" Mayawati wants her birthday as the only official function in UP. Hope, next time we elect someone who can forget caste. God help India from leaders like Mayawati.

more Manjula.A.Shanmugasundaram I read the article and the comments. A reading of the comments shows how pathetic the condition of the original Indians is in this country. The Aryansists are so fast and so thorough to condemn in such rude terms, any misdeed by an original Indian. I think the Aryans do not like politicians who cannot commit genocide. Congress committed genocide in Delhi against Sikhs, BJP committed genocide in Gujarat and Communists committed genocide in Nandigram and Singur. All these parties lead by fair complexioned sanskritised, convent educated Aryans are acceptable to Aryans. But two original Indians, Maya and Laloo cannot be tolerated by them and they will go all out to say whatever they please against them. Just because they can't speak Sanskrit and English, just because they are dark skinned and original Indians by race?

lal narang Mayawati has shown no chracter or integrity at any given point in her time. She bleeded Kanshiram and hounded him till his death only to sing Paeans on his dead body. She was said to be staunch pro-dalit and stronly anti-brahmin and Rajputs..She suddenly turned around to appease them. The woman is a virus with incurable desease for this nation. She ugliest face of the Indian Politician. There have been others like Lalu, Jaya lalitha but they pale before her in stooping at lowest level of polity. As long as such Neta's thrive the worst for the country becomes a reality.

Arun Vats Whatever she is doing is according to our so called Constitution. She voted to power by the people and now if u know the litral meaning of "Politician",she is doing a great job. Its now upto the people of state who voted her in power, they wana to repeat the mistake once again or its the last time. But the thing is that if other party will come to power, they will do the same job what she is doing now.
In hindi voting is called "MATDAN". "DAN" means donation and after donating something you are not supposed to ask queston how one is using that donated thing. So like a good citizen, you are supposed to just donate your vote and be sitted at your home untill again they will come to your doorstep and ask for donation.
If you are also a good citizen of India, please stoped writtting all thease because all politicians are the same medicine with same composition only brand is different.

Bikash Dash I fully agree with your reaction. It seems all these acts are manifestation of her complex she has.Time has come, when Mayawati needs to prove herself. She needs to learn lessons from Narendra Modi, Nitish Kumar and Naveen Pattanaik.Citizens of India are clever enough to understand these small gimmicks to divert attention from the bigger governance and developmental issues.

bhavik hey the view put across is totaly correct there is no use of such baseless controversies, behanji as he is popularly called is more interested in building bungalows and receiving cash gifts from her supporters and yes all the ambedkar and kashi ram statues and memorials in the state with the poor languishing under debt and poverty with crime, electricity, roads and many more concerns those statues and memorials can wait atleast for now
