I write this at my own risk. I know I invite the ire of Indian IT professionals by talking this way about their patron saint.
Kannadiga software pros, their parents, and other Infosys worshippers will call me an... Read The Article
I hope that this discussion continues in every Bharatya house hold around the globe about values and respect for symbols instead for poo-pooing everything that is India.
I have a lot of difficulty justifying Ratan Tata's pr here in the USA too. He was given an award and then had a lavish dinner of Tata's presence here in the USA for 60 years. In that occasion he did not even play the National anthem or have any presence of Bihar and Orissa not even scenic photos . His company too employs a lot of indian goons who are disgusting Tamils or Bongs and are real creeps.
Look at the disgusting affair of Arun-Liz hurley . The pictures that are promoted about Arun are so bad in the us papers.
I have interviewed employees of INFOSYS and the work they do is what a 10th grader can do. Both Tata -corus and these soft ware programmers are overhyped and are liked and promoted because its been easy to use them and Ranbaxy to cheaply enter markets.
The same is with fashion industry and Sabayaschi and others . They have no buyers and when you meet these people they are not very pleasant and business like
Now see how smart Mahatama Gandhi, Pandit Nehru Indira Gandhi effectively represented India and especially Indira Gandhi who looks so adorable twirling Nixon to a ballroom dance in an elegant pink sari in the 70s

What are you talking about, you don't even belong to India. Had you been an Indian you would have never mentioned kapoorfrom USA. NRN and Ratan Tata are better than you, atleast they are employing indians who are paying taxes to the Indian govt. You have no right to criticise about them.

Prateet .. just to correct u .. they employ indian who actually pay taxes here in the US too ... invalid point ...

Just to educate you Tata Corus has heavily loaned itself out and has over payed for the merger. The monetary leverage is from Indian bank account and in many of these shopping sprees that many Indian companies are doing the companies they buy are over priced.
Except for Lakshmi Mittal who has restructured the steel industry, incidentally Tata was given more in the 40, 50 and 60s who incidentally sold back products to India at a high cost , but sold the same products to Home Depot as practically freebies and Lakshmi was kicked out both by Tata and bong/ kerala commies and people like Murthy who where commies then. Laksmi went to Indonesia and pursued his dreams and has been the only global sucess story of Merger and Acquisition. In fact Tatas stock are down after buying Corus , junkets like Ritz Carlton for 170 million , a property of Ritz Carlton is not worth more than 20 million at the most, all with the Indian goverments banking .
The same is for Ranbaxy USA knows how toprotect its interest and recently raided their office in NJ.
You are a very emotional person like what I see in the usa and not very intelligent to handle this part of the world that is very strategic and focused in getting what it wants.
I was not going dignify you comments, although I FELT the need that others who have found this conduct of NRN MURTHY offensive , understand that values symbols and perceptions are very important in the market of buying and selling.
English is not the language of the future. IT WILL BE Chinese and Japanese and Indonesia Bahasa and Malaya Bahasa and languages of Nepal Bihar Sikkim and Kajakistan Ajerbazan.
The Chinese primier is a fine person . I am going to leave it at that

Hello Mr. Satish,
Excellent article. However, you just proved to be one of those journos who twists an argument by not reporting everythign. I truely believed your idea; however after i read the complete news elsewhere ... you just turned out to be regular ! Extremism is what the country needs to get rid of. And thats what he did. If he dint have people singing on stage, whey dint the others sing if they felt it was wrong ?? I am not sure if u have attended any ocassion where u have t obe a part of the other country's anthem ... it is weird for both sides !! Your foriegn freinds want to make u comfortable .. thats it. Also, a Prez is the first representative of the country to the world. Would you prefer Laalo or mulayam or mayawati ?? or would u rather prefer a Corporate entity whom even the would outside knows ... I think with Dr. Kalaam vision our country needs to have a driver. If it is IT that is india's strength then so be it ... Not necessarily Murthy .. but definaltely a leader, proven to start from 0 to a billionaire... he know what it is to struggle unlike people you might be supporting. Also, I am extremely ashamed to see that a well educated man like yourself classifies him self as a Kanadiga ... and too many times in the article ... what were you trying to get at??? Disappointing article ... not interms of the fact that it was anti murthy or anti any body .. you should debate , yes... but it was incomplete and half reported. Report it as a whole ... controlling the views of others by insufficient refenences reflect lack of a honesty in your professional values.

I salute the author for not being a "tail wagging" journalist who are busy in show casing what Murthy's do. Stories keep circulating about Murthys. Was our President joking when he suggested this? Did any one hear about Preisident Clinton or President Bush ever mention that Bill Gates should be next US President. You are correct Narayan Murthy has forgotten his past and his success has given him such an arrogance that he commented "Govt has no right to control number of seats in IITs or IIMs". What does think of himself? It is a shame that people wag their tails at the very mention of his name. He recently said - "Country does not need SEZ " . Will some one tell how much Tax his Companies paid during first 10 years. Milk the system ant then lecture others.

I agree with you 100%.
He is not fit for the post.
He is just a money maker nothing more than that.
For his act on National Anthem, he must be punished.

It's surprising how everyone is questioning NRN's Indianess just because he had an instrumental version of National Anthem. Everyone should be proud of the National Anthem, no doubt. But aren't there other important issues that face our country that need the educated youth's attention. All the politicians who are raising such a hue and cry.. what is their contribution to Karnataka or India... All the people who are abusing NRN must introspect and see whose contribution is greater to our economy and country.. NRN's or...

Ok...agreed that what he did was wrong....but he would still make a much better politician (100 times better) than the current bunch of idiots that we have in our system.
( Posted: Thursday , April 12, 2007 at 02:21 )
how do u say he makes a better politician than others?

I totally agree with your views(). Murthy is a businessman whose primary motive is profit - he maybe a good businessman but that does not qualify him for the post of the First Citizen. Iam an IT professional. I must say that many of those working in IT or a related industry have a very narrow view of India where they assume that the nation is in great prosperity and everyone is living happily. This maybe because everyone is surrounded by people who work in IT and they dont make an attempt to think beyond.

Really bad entry. Bloody politicians want to drag Murthy down into the same cesspool they survive in.
