Narayana Murthy as Prez would be a shame

I write this at my own risk. I know I invite the ire of Indian IT professionals by talking this way about their patron saint. Kannadiga software pros, their parents, and other Infosys worshippers will call me an...

Vikram Kamath I don't fully agree with satish nor i endorse responses for his comments above here. Some of views of Mr.Narayan Murthy such as playing national anthem infront of forieghn nationals are there in the campus is surely absured. It is shows lord macaulay still alive. We do business with other countries and earn profit but it does not mean we should loose our self respect. may be that is why world respects China more than India. if u ask me Mr. Murthy for President Sure NO. God save India !!!

Dr.Suhas MS Im a Bangalorean n know very well what Mr.Murthy did when he was irked by Mr.Deve Gowda,he just resigned.U can expect him to do the same if he's irked again for not signing a bill in Rasthrapathi Bhavan.
Mother India would love to have someone like Mr.Seshan in Rastrapathi Bhavan, why dont u all people who are supporting Mr.NRN here support Mr.Seshan and start a nationwide campaign to install him where he's needed most???

Raman RV There are too many flaws in your report, judging that National anthem not being sung and played, is that a crime? This is unncessary totally against a respected man like NRN. The problem with our conuntry is this, we are not ready to accept when some one from our back yard does achieve great things (there is also a famous adage in kannada). Also jealousy that someone like NRN could get 3 times 'fantastic' from our honoured President Abdul Kalam. This itself speaks volumes about NRN. Well if NRN is fit or not for Presidentship, it is different matter, but we should not embarass ourselves by writing such reports. Let us have some pride in our people.

Rajesh Probably no human being can Mr.Perfect in all dept.NRN has time again expressed his discinclination towards politics and skills to be a broad public figure.

A small issue is being blown out of proportion by blody polititans and the some jurnos to gain publicity in the media.NRN is very prtical man and not like our political gang of Deve gowda,HDK,Siddu,Vatal etc etc who have done nothing for the sake of Karnataka but spoilt the state and the culture.Since NRN has no political backers and affiliations they are making merry of the situation in legistative assembly. The same gang insulted many itellectuals like UR Anantha murthy etc.Shame on them.

They have failed the state and country in all fronts.Other wise India would not have been a third world country in 21st century. The uneducated polititians should be prevented at all cost from riding on the educated and forward looking people. These politicians are very similar to the ugly and uneducated group of Talibans.

The author should ashamed of the sides he is taking on this silly issue.

srikantha Why prople are linking reservations with caste. Govt need to give a support only for the poor people.

NRN Murthy is the ideal person for the Presidents post.

ananya Extremely well said DP Satish! Also high time we stopped venerating industrialists as the next Gods in our pantheon and accept them for what they are worth -- welath creators but primarily driven by profit motive. Let their breed multiply but please let us imagine them in the highest public offices of this country. To the many inconsistencies you have pointed out in NRN's views and positions, may I add another -- Infosys, irrespective of its claims and purposes, is Karnatka's largest land mafia...this self-made man pouted because a chief minister wasn't willing to release some land happily two-three years ago. Please let's not even imagine NR Narayan Murthy in any role other than that he has carved for himself.

Sudarshan However good businessman and person NRN may be, his comments about national anthem show his hypocracy. How can he be even remotely a candidate for Presidency, when he makes such comments. If NRN feels playing national anthem in India embarasses his foreign guests, he deserves to leave India and shift to USA. It is utterly shameful...

Luckynandish HI, This is a good topic in fact, but with lack of quality... Before writing this blog you should have thought twice or thrice... Everybody knows about our hero and his behavior so there is no second thought. I dont understand why people will always pin point at others things. Have you ever thought what you have done to our nation? We the people, most of us lack his quality and his idealism...
We all accept him to be as our next leader and we all will support him.
BEING AN INDIAN HE HAS DONE HIS JOB ( otherwise like many others he would've settled in some other country and forgotten INDIA, if he was greedy and looks only of profit) LETS WE, START OUR DUTY...

and please before writing something on any great personality, think a lot...
