Narayana Murthy as Prez would be a shame

I write this at my own risk. I know I invite the ire of Indian IT professionals by talking this way about their patron saint. Kannadiga software pros, their parents, and other Infosys worshippers will call me an...

rasa Continuing my earlier post...Your comment as a kannadiga and indian... kannadiga has been mentioned first which indicates what type of mind set you have... Any business is run for profit and narayana murthy has done hard work and he is reaping benefits... For people like you he may sound as a middle class nonsense as you have written... There are few people who wont tolerate others earning money through honest means.. you are one among them...
He may not suit president profile only because he does not have enough experience in government and constitutional related matters ... But the arguments you are making against him can't be the reasons for rejecting his candidature... Naryana murthy has built a brand name for India without which millions of people wont have got a job.... Yes he has made money out of it but in a honest way..... Please analyse and write a better blog... Better luck next time...

KCL Narasimham Well the article throws light on the other half, which when noted nullifies the half which is good.

Simple arguments -

1) How many Indians there stand straight and feel for the country when the national anthem plays or when anyone sings it, except for school going children and the armed forces?

2) Middle class benefited, economic liberalisation put to use, I wonder how journalism fetches revenue with such articles!

3) I see the instructions provided here as

- Do not be rude to other users/authors or disrupt an ongoing conversation/debate.

Well the article doesn't seem to adhere to it how can comments be expected so?

- Criticism, when constructive and non-disruptive is always welcome.

Well I agree to it wholeheartedly!

It is always easy to put words out, ordained and send out a falsified message. The greatest of personalities have been sallied against, well this just passes as one of them.

Anish We should promote intellectual & learned
people so as to make India a developed nation.
Mr. Narayanmurthy is indeed a statesman & I believe
he would be a great President. We need to clean the
dirt in politics & we need people like him to come
forward for this cause. As per the media reports, the
other contestants are Mr. Arjun Singh, Mr. Amitabh
Bachchan, Mr. Somnath Chatterjee & Mr. Bharon Singh
Sekhawat. I am not biased, still I believe that Mr.
Narayanmurthy is certainly the best, being a software
engineer. He has the capabilities & intellect to
pursue the Vision-2020 of Mr. Kalam.

Jay I am also not for NRN for prez job neither i am great supporter of his but this person who has written about is not put things properly.
He is ANTI NRN rather than against him being PREZ or so.

He is trying to settle personal score.

deepak Attitude of this person named NRN is Blasphemous to say the least !! A person who cant uphold his respect for national anthem and shys away to do so in the presence of foreigners only depicts his double standards. shame on him.

Chandra This thing about national anthem is explosive..I am stunned!!!

Kanwar Points well made. Being a successful and ethical businessman doesn't qualify one to be the President of India. In fact people from profit making enterprises should be kept away from Presidentship in any case. People like Narayanan and Kalam are best suited for it as they have invested there lifetime for the cause of the nation not for the cause of a self owned company.

Ashish I am not putting down my opinion as to whether NRN should be considered for Presidential post or not.

I’d just comment on the way Mr D P Satish has put forth his view points.

He is mixing issues.

It may be true that NRN had ashames us by saying that foreigners should not be made embarassed by rendition of the national anthem.

The author states a fact which is either verified or needs to be verified.

Then he goes on to state his own opinions.

According to him NRN’s viewpoints of reservation being based on economic status is a sin.
There are a lot many people in this country who endorse NRN’s view and since this is a democratic country, everyone is free to put his opinion. Nothing wrong with what NRN said.

The author then says that NRN considers English to be vital for a good future of this country.
So what is wrong with that? Politicians like Mulayam, Lalu are not averse to speaking in English. The would want to make Hindi the common language. But, how many leaders from non-hindi speaking states would support Lalu’s or Mulayam’s stand?

Then an astonishing FACT from the author: “Corporate success is his mantra, and he is blind to everything else around him.”
Only Mr Satish would agree to it.

Hey Mr Satish, criticism is always welcome. NRN would love to hear those and work on them. But putting your biased opinions in between verifiable facts shows the poor quality of the report.

Regards
Ashish

Jayakumar Hell-o,

Merely not playing a national anthem does not make anybody a traitor. In the same lines, playing a national anthem does not make anybody a patriot. There are many ways of potraying nationalism and that may or may not include singing the anthem.

The criteria to hold the highest position of the country should be for the person who can do the job well. NRN proved that he can do excellent job in business, just like what APJ did in science/defence.

Regarding the quota, I'm happy he spoke his mind unlike many hypocrites who misuse it for their own ends. Voicing an opinion is better than no opinion at all and further just his personal opinion. In fact even APJ indirectly opposes quota(requests more seats for education).

Lastly, who cares if Bal,Gowda,Mulayam doesn't like NRN. Of course this may influence his outcome, but doesn't stop people from wishing him success.

Harshad Great articulation. Its showing the other side of the coin. I wonder why you feel that you will face the wrath of IT industry. NRN is just a part of Indian IT industry and not the only representation of it. Let the truth prevail. Small incidences of few IT companies make a big hype in media. This 'for president' thing was one of that.
