Narayana Murthy as Prez would be a shame

I write this at my own risk. I know I invite the ire of Indian IT professionals by talking this way about their patron saint. Kannadiga software pros, their parents, and other Infosys worshippers will call me an...

To Expand To Collapse
Anil Well said...he is pakka buisnessmen...he is not a patriotic. India has rich cuture. why should indians adopt to other culture. He replies to one of journalists when asked Govt has helped him by giving land in building the infy campus ..pat came reply Murthy says he had given enough money for it. This suggests he feels money can buy everything, software job is only way for life. If you remember Murthy talked about Cricket saying If Indians would have follwed the Process india could have won the world cup. In contrast he didnt follow the process when contracting for building one of the Infy campus, two died coz of the building collapse,, where is the process now. He has to accept the corporate cuture does not apply everywhere.
He is unfit to be President. Anil, Bangalore

bharatisuta Congradulations Satish,
Very nice article and well thought. I am a Mysorean, Kannadiga. I do admit NRN is not a suitable candidate for the President, for that matter even Dr. Kalam. He is not able to do anything on the key issues like Afzal Guru and office of profit.
NRN is a pure business who sees only AMERICA and Bright Side of INDIA. Also i heard many stories about his simplicity and travel in Economy class! but i myself saw him sitting in the BUSINESS CLASS of LUFTHANSA sipping the Drinks.
As for the culture, lets not forget he was a wannabe communist. So don't expect much of culture and religion from him. He cares a damn about language, culture etc., for him keeping the WHITE SKINNED happy is the motto to keep his business grow.

I can go on and fill the whole length of this Site.
Bottom line is "I AGREE WITH YOU SATISH AND I DON'T WANT TO SEE HIM AS PRESIDENT EITHER"

Regards
Bharatisuta.

Prakash Kashwan Bravo..too much of technocracy..its enough that we had one scientific president who thrust upon this nation a useless and environmentally destructive, scientifically regressive idea of inter-linking of rivers. Lets look for someone with common sense not ivory tower scientific day-dreaming habits.

Sajokoo I guess the auther himself is the most learned and gentle man living in India. I suggest his name to be the next prez.

Auther is very critical of Narayan Murhty's opinions. But can he prove that Mr Murthy's observations are wrong? The observations made by Mr Murthy as head of one business organisation, is more than hundred percent correct. When he is heading a business house, he has to think and talk like an entreprenure.

But in the capacity as president of a nation, his outlook and opinions would be like that of a head of the state. I find no reason why NM can't be the president of India (if the auther is not willing!!)

Nagaraj Its really well said.... NRN is just a business man and his job is to make money and what he means is business. When a person dosen't want our national anthem to be sung just for the sake of foreigners, then he is not fit to be a nationality for that country. Let all the Indians realise this. Let us save our India from this FOREIGNER (N R Narayana murthy)

Feroz Louis My head hangs low in shame... Even the idea that the pioneers of India, puts dollars before his country is demeaning to me.

Madhan I thought of writing a explanatory comment, but I think it's a waste of my time to have a composed reply to this so called 'journalist' who jumps to conclusions.

SS He is just another successful from lower middle class to upper upper class businessman. If that was the case why dont we propose other names from the likes of Tata, Ambanis, Mallyas and what have you.. Though, I agree in thought to some of his ideologies, at the end of the day its all about margins for him - and that is a hard core fact. Who would like to see one's dream dying down? Murthy's dream is Infy- let it be that. Lets not take that away from him, by such derogatroy articles. A business sense is a business sense- and should not be judged, as ethics dont play too much of a role in the corporate world.
Also, this is typical Indian mentality. If a person is rich, successful and a little agressive, well- hey he is THE best.. Cmon India, broaden your horizons. There are many more unsung heroes and so much more to do than idolize people like us who have made it to the top.

Gaurav Farkade While I have issues with the tone and arguments raised in the blog, personally do feel , NRN wont make a good President.

Even if he wishes, no political party's gonna support a industrialists, dont forget you have the communists supporting the government.
With the executive already at logger heads with the judiciary, in all probability the next president would be a old Congressman, who would
happily act as a rubber-stamp. Who would want a questioning president when loads of controversial bills are going to be passed.

Also, NRN should continue doing what he's best at and make a difference in the way he wants.
He'd waste his productivity sitting in the Lutyens for five years.
