Narayana Murthy as Prez would be a shame

I write this at my own risk. I know I invite the ire of Indian IT professionals by talking this way about their patron saint. Kannadiga software pros, their parents, and other Infosys worshippers will call me an...

Akhil Most of our politicians cant sing our national anthem,Do you remember the TV reporters asking our leaders to sing national anthem during independence day? how many of them sang it properly? How many of us respect the anthem and stand up when we hear it? I am not trying to justify Mr.Murthy here but the respect for our nation, culture, and our values should come from every citizen of this country.

Raghu Article is party ok..You mix caste politics with the latest issue - which is a sensitive one. According to me, there are just two casts: Rich and poor. Politicians for known reasons, make hay out of so-called castes in India which is not at all warranted. There are many so-called forward-caste people who are poor and are not supported by the governmental policies. Are they under the current caste -friendly bracket? If so, it makes sense. On Murthy, its a closed chapter as much has already been clarified on papers. Dont judge by what comes in the media..there is lot of shame left for all of us if you know what goes behind the scenes. Nevertheless, article is well written; but I've objections to some of the thoughts expressed :)

more Vijay Rao "Democracy of hypocrisy".Chauvinism rules in India. NRN can make a very good President. But he should not become one.
NRN simply does not deserve this at all. He never ever stated his intent to contest Presidential elections. So all these discussions are simply a reflection of how intolerant we are as a soceity. A country that we are: where we cannot share water amicably, where languages are simply used as instruments to create regional bickerings, where thousands of women and children get abused day in and day out, where most rivers have been killed in the name of religion, where separatist movements dictate terms at negotiation table with the state in every corner and many more things that can be added on this endless list, does not deserve any rights to quesion NRN's nationalist sentiments. Why for heaven's sake should we suspect NRN's faith in our state. I simply understand this is as a failure of common sense. One thing that is very true about Indians is that we deify somebody to an extent that we make somebody an icon and in a moment, we make the same person look like a fool. What a bunch of fools we are? Thinking about the culture, suspecting NRN on this issue is like a son suspecting his mother, if he was born to her or not. What kind of culture are we proud of which does not respect NRN's patriotism. We are forgetting everything that his foundation has done for people of India including encouraging Kannada literary work. Aren't we all being simply judgemental about a colossal figure. I hope this discussion about whether he can be a good President is just hypothetical. We as citizens and also media should stop this discussion and just let the man be what he is and allow him to do more good things for INDIANs.

more yuvaraj Mr.NRN has proved it once again that he is an amature in Politics by thinking he is allready the PRES. Within 24 hoursof his earlier row ,he is in another row commenting upon one of the most tension building debates of cauvery water issues between the two states and leading to a picket on Infosys in Banglore by the locals. Mr.NRN with all due qualities which is claimed in his honour should be well educated by the fact that any word blown away from his mouth will fire up his critics under such circumstances and maintain his dignity by not poking into unwanted debates. Commenting on "bandhs " which is a non violent demonstration of opposition defined in our law, he should have broke his silence years back by boycotting USA and UK projects to indicate violence and war is not a way to settle matters then his words today would have had a greater depth today. But for a person having two different visions .. one in business and other in growth factors like nation, pride and democracy will be blinded by the curtain called currency. Yet democracy is by the people and for the people and every citizen's opinion differs.....lets wait and see if the democracy is handed over to such a person or to a much better INDIAN.

more rao globalisation inevitably leads to economic growth, at least in short term . country like india with large educational pool with hunger for jobs has settled into soft ware as a default process as it happened in ireland and happening in places like phillipines.soft ware companies are bound to grow . some of them are bound to become gaints like infosys and wipro. some narayana murtys or premjis have to head it.There is nothing special , legendary or phenamenal about it. let us grow, let us get real. These are not native innovative geniuses like Gandhi, Mandela or Lincoln.May god give some light to the indian middle classes so that they can see the little masters all around us who battle life day in and out and emege victorious.

Venkatesh No doubt NRN is a highly successful businessman. But he will never be a good Prez because from his own utterances regarding various matters concerning the present situation in the country, one can judge and come to a conclusion that his interests are only business and his empire and nothing else. He has not shown even an ounce of interest on some of the boiling matters of the State/City or the Country, he wants his company and the surrounding roads which leads to his office and residence to be of world class in all respects and nothing else. Taking only this into consideration, we can conclude that he will never take anything else into his mind other than his business. So, he will become a lame-duck president if at all elected to that post. Since, the election to the post of the President of India is an indirect election through the elected representatives of both the legislature and the parliament, I think our elected reps will definitely not vote him to that coveted post.

more Deepu U should try to figure out the contextual meaning of words used.
Your views on National Anthem are quite agreeable.
But comparing Govt schools to cowsheds was not done in a despicable manner as u have mentioned , rather it should have pointed to the lack of facilities and a need to provide better facilities.
