dheeraj Gowda has in fact played a very clever political game . After first ditching the BJP , it produced a huge wave of moral sympathy for them . To counter this he offered to support the BJP . If the BJP had declined the support he could have harped that the BJP was responsible and therefore negating the sympathy wave . Since the BJP did not fall for his game he kept some unaccetable conditions . If the BJP had accepted the conditions he would have been the de facto chief minister and the BJP would have lost face in public (thankfully it did not). Since the BJP did not accept the conditions the BJP has egg on its face after parading its M.L.A in front of the president and is being dubbed power hungry . Thus the initial sympathy wave has been negated . Now proably Kumaraswamy and Gowda will part and Kumaraswamy will be chief minister in alliance with BJP or Congress after the elections . The only way foward is absolute majority for the BJP in the state . What a Politician , he is the modern Chanakya and despite all the flak he is getting ,in the rural areas he still has support . Though i dont like him cant help admiring his political skills

raju HATS OFF to the writer for picturing the state of our Karnataka politics.

Being a born in bangalore i feel ashamed looking at the developments happening presently.

The blame should go equally to JD(S), BJP and Congress for such havoc they have created in the Indian History of politics.

I do agree with many of the bloggers about their views, but mind that even we the people are also responsible for whats happening, its we who have elected them.

I feel, the entire election system has to be changed, no matter which ever party gets elected the hunger for power remains the same. So why cant we bring in a new system where after the elections(lets say ABC party has got the majority), a group of experts, jounalists, NGO or any resposible people should interview the elected candidate whether he is suitable or not. For any post in the Government cabinet this should be made cumpulsory.

Even for a clerk post in Gov office there are rounds or interview, why cant we interview the person who will head the state.

As the great leader said, Democracy is for the people, to the people and by the people.

Disha Was wondering -what was the Congress so called Supremo thinking when they asked Mr. SM Krishna to step down and put Mr. Dharamsingh in his place after which Karnataka never saw any good days -we went downwards steadily but surely.
All one can request ALL THE PEOPLE OF KARNATAKA -please please please do not vote for the JDS -it is a selfish, self oriented party -and all the Gowda's can think of is themselves. To quote their own party members -father is bad but the sons are worse.

satish kaimal I think late Ramakrishna Hegde will be having the last laugh in his grave. He warned the people of karnataka about Deve Gowda years back.Gowda has invited political death, which all politicians fear the most.He will lead a isolated party with no cadre and leader. This will torment him rest of his life.

Raj.C. Why it is a blot on the face of Devegowda only. It is also a blot on the face of GRAND OLD PARTY CONGRESS who have tried for horsetrading through JD(S) leader M.P. Prakash for so many days before actually inviting of Yediyurappa by the Governor. Institution after institution have been bought over or broken by the GRAND OLD PARTY CONGRESS. Whether it is Judiciary, Media, Governor's Office or any other office you name it and the Congress has done more damage to every institution.

jaideep Every body who are Bashing Gowda must first think why he did like that , I am not telling he is 100 % correct at same time BJP is not the party Which can be trusted, They Had Taken JDS for granted ie JDS will agree for anything to share the power as BJPdoes.
But that is not the case with JDS They will never let go thier EGO for the sake of power , what is wrong from JDS side in demanding to sign MOU when BJP it self proposed the idea in the first place , why are BJP hankering around Bellary mining goons because they are giving huge FUNDS to the party and for top people in BJP, for the first 20 months BJP never suppoted JDS in smooth functioning of kumarswamy government, they were keeping quiet because they were tasting the power for the first time and all its ministers and legislators were seeing the power for the first time and they were happy enough enjoying thefruits of power and not because of any love for the coaliation or principles they were happy enough with the DY CM post , if not they being the single largest party they should have been made the CM in the first 20 months , why did they agree to the DyCM post
they agreed to the DyCM's Post because they wanted power at any cost and what ever kind of power it be ,So it is meaningless to simply bash Gowdas and praise BJP infact all the parties are the same at least JDS has some EGO left with them where it did not compromise when BJP refused to sign MOU,where as BJP has lost what ever little respect It had when it again went back to JDS for power as soon as they came to support it after throwing tantrums at it when it did not hand over the power on OCT3 so it shows thier greed for power where as JDS wants power at its terms if not it dosent want the power at all ie fine na then bending to get power
with regards
jai

A R Hebbar Shri Deve Gowda has been consistent in his approach. While the recent events might seem that he shifts loyalty too soon, there is one area where he has not moved. His business and identity was always with the soil.....From 'mannina maga'(son of the soil) to 'mininna maga'(son of the mines) he has actively demonstrated his loyalty.

more naren Blaming Sri Deve Gowda & his family for everything that is happening in Karnataka is ludicrous. It takes two hands to clap! Why was BJP in a hurry to parade its MLAs in front of the President, even before the support issue was settled? it is Only BJP Sympathasisers who are crying Foul! Thanks to Sri Deve Gowda, He stopped Karnatak from becoming another Gujrat

Naveen Hanmantgad Very scholorly article on the present mess i ever read.

Its the height of shame of the politicians part who exhibit it in recent days. The desire to hold the control over the state by one person has costed the state very much.

And what will be the future? Its pretty predictable. Mr son of soil will weep in front of large public in a rally and the heart of the poor farmers of old mysore will melt to the tears of our son of soil and again we vote for his victory!
