The Congress could learn a few things from the Indian cricket team.
Two young Indian men are on a unique journey. Rahul Gandhi, 37 year old MP from Amethi and bearer of India's most important political surname has just... Read The Article
Dear Sagarika, One cannot compare Dhoni with Rahul.Dhoni has nothing to loose whereas Rahul has inherited a legacy which he has to maintain and take Congress and our country to greater heights. Most of us think that the magical surname 'Gandhi' is an asset but for a young man like Rahul who want to make his mark in Indian poltics his surname becomes a libility at times.Coming from Nehru-Gandhi family he cannot express his views openly. His every move is watched by media and the country. Rahul or his young team cannot act like Raj Thackery or Narendra Modi.Dhoni and his boys can behave like Ponting and Symonds. Its better that we stop comparing Rahul with any one and instead allow him to do things which will make him more acceptable to the masses.

Hi Sagrika! Another important factor i want to underline is that we are marching frm developing to developed. Not only in Economic Sence but in Social and Political Sence as well. Third world countries always guided by Family Raj...as we were..! But here onwords its not possible because we r becoming more and more mature day by day.Its sign of Political development.Thats why ppl r not ready to accept Rahul Gandhi as there future Leader only on the basis of his Surname...and without performance...!

I am not for or against any political party as such. But as a citizen of modern DEMOCRATIC India I am a strong supporter of merit based leadership and evaluation of the leadership based on contribution and merit shown over a period time and nothing else.
Media's coverage and consideration of Rahul as a leader worth writing/covering about itself doesn't send the message that qualification and contribution make onself a leader in DEMOCRACY and not just a birth in a family. Media covering Rahul needs to question (self) what qualification (as a leader) Rahul has and what has he contributed that led them to give any value to him in the first place? He has been made General Secretary in such a short time. Did anyone in media question Cong(I) president on Rahul's qualification (compared to other seniors in the party) to be a general secretary? Also statement that Rahul leads from the front is a joke.
Young India will value only qualification and contribution and nothing else. It is high time Congress(I) and Media realize that. Yound India would appreciate if media arranges debates (like in US during elections) between Sonia Gandhi and opposition leader and then judge who is suitable.

Yeah.... Sagraki! U r right.... But it is totally ridiculous to compare Dhoni with Rahul. The major reason is that... Dhoni is from Lay-man 's family and Rahul BABA is elite.. The ppl who r from common backgroud has one thing exception in them..and that is utmost urge to climb...! To do some thing different... to enter in System..! That is why these Young guies r delivering great performence... But unfortunately..that's not case with Rahul baba and his Young peers in Congress! They hv nothing to prove.. that's why they r not taking efforts...! they look very In -active..seen only in Page 3 parties... Go to common s and hunt Talent... Otherwise it will be difficult for congress!

Dr.G.Srinivasan
Congress party is a feudal system within the feudal system they put in place for the country.BCCI is another feudal system .There cannot be much difference in the systems so long as the BCCI is there .For every Dhoni who is discovered there are hundreds who are not!!!!Probably there is a better man than Dhoni out there unrecognized by the feudals.

Only merit and competency demonstrated for years should be the only criteria to even considering oneself to be a leader. Birth or marriage in a family should not be given any value. It is ridiculous to even talk about Rahul being a leader or comparing him to other individuls who have achieved something in life "on their own" through hard work, skill and commitment. No surprise that party of "psycophants" is projecting Rahul"ji" as their leader! Cong(I) in that sense is the most undemocratic party.

Of course Rahul Gandhi = Dhoni - talent - hard work - merit - confidence. I think the equation now works perfect.

Comparisons are odious. One is a self-made Hero while the other has become one, more by inheritance.

Dr.Debotosh Majumdar
In India and in some underdeveloped country, some people build their career using their family name. Its harmful for the society and for the country. Rajiv Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi are two such names. If the country is run by quality people, then only India can prosper. Shining India/Rising India is a big hype. India's condition in basic science, technology, sports, general health, sanitation, providing good quality drinking water, food etc are awful. So many people are below poverty line. India has to improve the overall condition of its people and the country as a whole. India has to take responsibilty and do good things in global arena. Indian Government should have a proper policy. Then only India will be recognised as power, Otherwise not.
Good luck.

Why compare both. Dhoni will kepp on winning and Rahul baba will keep on doing is usual stuff. Our media is pathetic why waster ur comapnys resource on something waste like this. Put ur efforts on some good cause which will make u a proud journo which is a rare and endangered species these days. Journo have become as crooks as political leaders.
