The Congress could learn a few things from the Indian cricket team.
Two young Indian men are on a unique journey. Rahul Gandhi, 37 year old MP from Amethi and bearer of India's most important political surname has just... Read The Article
Well written i totally agree. What ails our political system is surely a lack of new, fresh and young ideas. Most of our politicians have lost touch with what happens in the cities , towns and villages. There are so many faces to this beautifull country of ours and i hope the new blood of the nehru gandhi clan gives it his best shot and all politicians are made to retire at 65. This would give young people a chance to prove their metal for i feel people above the age of 65 have nothing to lose and hence end up delaying tough decisions. Lets hope ....

hi sagarika, very well written post on the change we are seeing in the contemporary india. You are 100% true that brand speaks less than the individual leading it,but that hasnt been the case with politics, the brand or the party speaks.you cant become a member of a political party, unless you are strong financially[who cares for ur leadership qualities and education],or atleast a relation to the already present party worker. The doors of political parties are almost closed and the screws are rusted,Hope rahul gandhi will oil them back and reopen them for the people who have zeal to work for the greater good of india. The damage is already done,we can witness this as,people who want to work for better india are joining a NGO,ratherthan a political party. From the growing number of NGO'S we can clearly see this is not a good sign.

Out of the four things that you have mentioned: Sports, Organized crime and Bollywood, all have money and fame. But politics doesn't have either. Wonder if this social revolution vis-a-vis politics would ever happen.

I agree with your blog .you have well analysed the situation in indian politics. lack of talent is seen among the politicians. But one thing that i have noticed is that candidates having famous surnames (may be thier fathers are emminent politcians)often loose in elections,in states with a communist government.i also feel that generalising all political parties with lack of talent is not right. the prominent leaders in CPIM AND ALSO CPI have either come up with trade union activites or student's union activities. you will not find these leaders glorifying their families and speaking out of chance without discussing in the party. the problem with congress is that they find it difficult to take a true stand without the nehru family.congress is not a political party anymore.i am sure that rahul gandhi will be made the president of the inc in the next 10 years.

The gandhi name has become nauseatingly ubiquitous. airports, roads, dams and most recently an IIM. it is understandable in today's times that modern ladies such as priyanaka gandhi desire to retain their madien names post marriage but what one wonders why she named her children vadera-gandhi. just a clear example of how foolhardily they wish to cling to their gandhi legacy (if one actually exists!!). rahul gandhi has not once demonstrated any oustanding political astuteness, on the contrary he has led his party to one of the most abysmal performances in the UP elections. it is often sad to see the 'young man', who is trumpeted as the future leader of the nation, monotonously read speeches prepared by his partymen (euphemism for sycophants) from paper in broken hindi. compare that with Obama looking at his audience in the face and building his speech dynamically depending upon the reaction of the crowd. talking about working at the grass root level, there are many in rahul baba's party who have worked hard at that level for a long time and deserve to be at secretary post to which was elevated last year. looking at him on televsion sometimes makes me wonder whether he is in politics by choice or by coercion. rahul baba should quit politics for a better career. that is the best way he can rid the congress party of gandhi domination and give it 'a new lease of life'.
