Shshsh... Muslim!

A conspiracy of silence has followed the conspiracy of terror. There is a certain chilling predictability about the list of convicts, a dreadful Orwellian litany of sameness. After a mammoth 14 years of trial and the dramatic sentencing of...

Seshan Sagarika some important facts that you seem to have not heeded. Tiger Memon, Abu Salem, Dawood Ibrahim, Chota Shakeel, Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri, Mullah Omar, Syed Salahuddin, Afzal Guru, Madani and Co. are all Muslims, wether you like it or not.
You seem to be suggesting that courts should consider religion and give so called 'secular' verdicts. So by your logic irrespective of the criminal, people from all relegions need to be sentenced by the court to keep up 'secularism'. Your next step would say you want to introduce reservations for convictions also and ensure that 13% of the convicts are muslims, 2% Christians and 85% Hindus in order to represent the demographics of India. How wonderful. What a noble and equitable thought.
Then I think you should also include a quota for SC/ST and OBC in convictions so that all communities get their fair share of convictions.
Why dont you start thinking rationally and look at criminals as just that and not as 'Hindu". 'Muslim' or "Dalit' 'Brahmin.'
I dont know if you will ever stop writing th is kind of illogical 'pseudo-secular' nonsense. But I think such articles are written only so that people sit up and take notice and see how ridiculous journalists can be. It is quite clear that you dont mind being ridiculous as long as you can catch people's attention.
Hope at some stage you resort to a higher and more ethical for of journalism to catch the attention of your audience. Morally and aesthetically it would be better if you refrained from stooping to such low levels for gaining attention.
Its better to keep quiet and let people think you may be a fool rather than to open your mouth and prove it.

farooq khan well i agree with u, but is there any thing to make ourselves specially people living in india to understand to come out of communal thoughts and move in a more practical. And to give people a place to leave peacefully rather than pointing and making them harm because of religion. I have seen ur show on the tahelka tapes of the bjp, rss and vhp leaders found guilty...
presently the topic is on 1984 sikh riots and some 1 is pointing a minister of tht time..
wht will u n he can do if at all the minister is found guilty? wht will the indian public does when they know that he was guilty ? wht will happen ?
I can say..nothing will happen.. bcoz the majority will think it didnt happened to me, so y shud i care..i have seen a NAYAK..where a CM is found guilty n when the public see they punish...it was the indian public in that movie, i was proud that indians do justice that time, but after the reaction of the tahelka tapes, i can only say that it was just a movie and i laughed on us on our system, that we r just puppets under the control of very bad politicians who make us fool by bringing religion. Lastly i can say its us who have given our rope to them n thts y they r in this position that they can do anything openly. Tell all to wake up and follow the truth and put communal problems a side..

gazanfar mirza What an article ! i am realy surprized, bewilldered and astnonished. this has forced me to see that there is stiil a scope for hope of life in this country from where ''MAHATMA IS BANISHED FOR HITLER''.There are many who think that BABRI demlition has initiated the process of another partion because riots ,bomb-blasts, terrorist attacks have taken place only after the unlawfull demolition where the Bjp and its parivar has dishonoured the rule of law and constitution . But the administration of country did nothing to punish the guilty RSS PARIVAR and the people perticularly elite class also has not vociferously condemed the guilty RSS PARIVAR and put it behind bar .

Prasad TVS It was a good article but the questions you ask are the same questions that the defense would have asked during the trial. We have an institution called the judiciary to adjudicate these matters. Why in vein do you try to ask this questions outside of the judiciary? The convicts still have a right to appeal. The HC and then the SC. Don't doubt the judiciary. It will be a fight without an end. IF not the judiciary, who should adjudicate the matter? Please think of an alternate if you don't trust the judiciary.

THE PRESS HAS FAILED. It is onesided. Neither do you bring us a neutral picture nor do you have a neutral opinion in the first place.

sultan Your article shows your depth of thought. Its highly appreciative. Perhaps we already know this or all of us have already thought about this scenario earlier. I think we as Indians are at the brink of the wall - we should now fully understand the political entangle attached to this horrible situation and can simple overcome, embrace and accept wholeheartedly each others' community and just wait to see how the muslim community reciprocates (u bet, if someone can wholeheartedly walk the path of death without any piece of monetary benefit attached to it... what this person can do...) or its just that the bigger mayhem is just round the corner.

S Kumar The Indian media is also HEADLESS CHICKEN like the politicians..without any own head. They are governed by the ruling party.

bala The same thing is applicable to media too.You dont give factual news.Indian media is shamefully one sided. If anything related with minorities and Dalits you can give onesided stories or even write up your own imaginations. There is no body to question you.For factually incorrect news media should be prosecuted.

Amit Anand You mentioned about Rubina. You said that she might be ignorant. But i would like to tell you that in this
case ignorance is not bliss. What if someone tomorrow shoots our PM and says that he was ignorant that the use of fire arm can take life. The points you had raised are ridiculous. Crime in any form is not acceptable in our society.I would like to ask one question. Doesn't a riot harm the Hindu as much a Muslim. Why the so called civilized society of our had not raised voice aginsat the preparator of riots and chosen them our leader. There is something wrong in the vary root of society. One day perhaps we will have to sort this problem; till then there is no point in dropping use less emotion.
