The rise of the tropical modern

When Kareena Kapoor attained "size sero", there were fears of an apocalypse of suicidal dieting among young Indian women. Instead our level-headed behenji brigade (with the exception of a few airheads) said they-and their gentlemen- preferred breasty and curvy instead....

Manoj We have to constantly remind ourselves that aping the West is not panacea. Its all about applying your mind. I believe in continuing unless someone proves to me something different is better -- especially if it means spending money !!! I'm ok to experiement a Rs. 20 burger in McDonald. But having eaten that, I find samosas more value for money.

Dr. Shatendra Sharma Dear Sagarika
Nice material to read. But to me it appears as if the personal decisions are made by most of indian women from the TV and Film actresses and their deeds. It is having an impact may be in subconcious that all they do is best. Without knowing the consequences of starving and damaging their health permanently. The dieting must be replaced by proper food and life style. Visible neck bones are not the signs of a fertile women. Nature has given more fat to women at places where it is required for its biological purposes. Shedding it by artificail means is certainly going to do more harm than benefit. I wish all women of cities and metros follow the natural and simple life style to stay fit.

Suresh Pillai Dear Sagarika,That was great reading.Modernity for today's youth is linked to having an 'attitude' which finds expression in dressing and eating habits. To stop short of a Bohemian life style, some tradition provides the underpinning from not going overboard.
