One of the best informed journalists in India, Krishna Prasad from Mysore, has initiated a raging debate on Bharat Ratna award in his popular website www.churumuri.com. I sent a comment suggesting the name of Sachin Tendulkar, Rajkumar & Rajinikanth for... Read The Article
bharat ratna is just a mere recognition.ratna(the jewel) is always going to leave his mark.whether we recognise it(by confering awards)or not.so its healthy sign for us that we have many worthy contenders around us.only the award gets respect when it is confered to the worthiest.for example novel prize would have been dignified it it would have been awarded to Bapu(mahatma).same is applied to bharat ratna.sachin, bajpai, viswanath's contribution will never be maligned even if they miss the award.the ratna is always the same...so why to make so faux pass on this...

i guess its high time we should recognize the endevours of sportspersons if not filmstars.they have brought pride to the nation and sachin tendulkar is the prime example.he may not be a statesman but with his shear talent he has touched the hearts of billion people.for me,bharat ratna is a person whom we look up to n i as an indian look up to him.if we can give this award to people like lata mangeshkar n bismillah khan den why not sachin tendulkar.dey are all masters in their own league.the whole world has recognized his cricketing prowess and we should not wait for some other country to felicitate him with a similar kind of award.

The idea of giving Bharat Ratna to cricketers and movie acters is absurd. They are just entertainers no Jewels. Their contribution to India is providing entertainment.Thats not should be criteria for Bharat Ratna. Look for politians, industrialists,Public administration leaders like IAS, IPS officers,Milatary men or women, social activists and workers etc.Late Potti Sriramulu from AP is my choice.

I think Person or Institution who/which transform the an Individual or family into an Elite class deserve the Bharat Ratna. My opinion one should consider 1. Shri Siddaganga Mutt swamiji Tumkur 2. Shri Satya sai Bhabha - Puutabarthi 3. Sri D Veerendra Heggade of Dharmastala for Bharat Ratna 2008. Please personally see their contribution ( education for the poor, water supply, food , medicine, old age homes, Free Hospitals,...) to our Human man-kind and society. Further they spend more than 20 hours per day for the social cause on all 365 days.

Bharat Ratna is the Highese Civilian award. Its a shame on our part dat we cudn't find a best person for dat award in the past 6 yrs. Wat has these politicians given to the country other than jus toppling the opposition parties to crisis situation. Can u ppl name one political leader who stands out among others for this award.Filmstars, sportsman entertain people all over the country, but wats the constraint for dis award.. a nice issue for the govt. to come out clean to the public...
