Dhaka Gladiators continued their winning streak following their 13-run victory against Duronto Rajshahi.
Khulna: Dhaka Gladiators continued their winning streak in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) following their 13-run victory against Duronto Rajshahi here on Tuesday. Despite a gritty half-century by Tamim Iqbal, they fell short of the 157-run target.
Shakib Al Hasan removed the dangerous left-hander who had smashed four fours and two sixes in his innings. Simon Katich and Ziaur Rahman kept up the chase alive hitting 33 and 25 not out respectively but Duronto ended on 143 for 3.
Earlier, defending champions Gladiators relied on Luke Wright's 51 and Shakib's 37 to build a post 156 for 8 after winning the toss. Gladiators' batting line-up of Mohammad Ashraful (9), Owais Shah (7) and Anamul Haque (12) fell cheaply.
Gladiators overcame losing Ashraful in the fifth over with Wright and Shakib adding 79 runs for the second wicket. They quickly lost three wickets but recovered reasonably towards the end.
