Guyanese bowlers continued their good work for second match in a row to give Guyana Amazon Warriors their second victory in a comprehensive 8-wicket mauling of Jamaica Tallawahs on Friday.
Playing at home, Guayana bundled out the Chris Gayle-led Jamaica for just 117, with medium pacer Krishmar Santokie being the pick of the bowlers with a spell of 3 for 20 in 3.1 overs. He was well supported by spinners Veerasammy Permaul (2 for 20) and Sunil Narine (1 for 13) after Gayle was unfortunately run out for six in the fifth over of the match.
The only notable contributions for Jamaica came from wicketkeeper Carlton Baugh (32) and David Bernard (24), but both couldn't kick on against a disciplined Guyana attack.
Guyana opener Lendl Simmons then came out blazing and stroked an unbeaten 67 off 44 balls to take his team home in 14.3 overs. Legendary offspinner Muttiah Muralitharan was the only wicket-taker for the Jamaicans. He dismissed Martin Guptill (17) and Mohammad Hafeez (6). Ramnaresh Sarwan remained not out at 24 off 19.
