Hambantota: India captain MS Dhoni and his men have been fined for slow over-rate during their 21-run win against Sri Lanka in the first ODI here on Saturday.
The Indians were ruled to be an over short of their target when time allowances were taken into consideration. Consequently, match referee Chris Broad imposed a 20 per cent fine on Dhoni, while his players received a 10 percent fine each.
The offence is contrary to Article 2.5.1 of the code which relates to minor over-rate offences. The finding and penalty were imposed following a full disciplinary hearing.
