    Haddin muffs a chance

Australia had a great chance to get rid of a well-set Gautam Gambhir on the stroke of stumps, but the wicketkeeper Brad Haddin spilled a catch.

James Pattinson, in the second last over of the day - after he was called on for a two-over burst - was the bowler to create the desired opening. It was a great delivery, bowled from around the stumps and squaring up Gambhir outside off stump with the extra bounce. However, the thick outside edge flew to Haddin's left and went straight through his gloves as he reached for the ball.

It was an easy catch, but Haddin made a meal of it. Gambhir survived the day unbeaten on 68, his first significant innings of the series.
