While Patel was dropped by Saha when he was on 29, Cook was grassed behind wickets when he was batting on 87.

Ashok Dinda had Nick Compton caught behind to wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha without troubling the scorers in just the second over of the England XI innings after the resumption of India A innings on Wednesday lasted just one ball. But Cook and Trott got their act together to ensure no more early jitters to the tourists' first innings on the tour.
While Cook was more sedate in his approach, Trott kept a consistent flow of boundaries to keep the scoreboard ticking at a run-rate of above three an over. Trott was just two shy of a half-century and Cook was on 30 when the umpires called lunch.
Earlier in the morning, James Anderson trapped Vinay Kumar in front on the first ball of resumption of play. Vinay was 25 not out overnight but couldn't add another run to the team's total on Wednesday.
