Selectors will meet in Chennai to name the limited-overs squads for the series in Australia.
New Delhi: India's selectors will meet in Chennai on January 15 to name the limited-overs squads for the ongoing tour of Australia. Following the conclusion of the four-Test series on January 28, India will play two Twenty20s against Australia starting February 1, followed by the tri-series also featuring fellow World Cup finalists Sri Lanka.
On January 7, the BCCI secretary Sanjay Jagdale had written to the five national selectors, asking chief selector Krish Srikkanth and his colleagues to assemble in Chennai to pick the squad. The panel is likely to pick a 16-man squad, with Yuvraj Singh likely to return.
Last week Yuvraj announced that he would fit for the tri-series in Australia after recovering from a non-malignant lung tumour. Yuvraj, 30, was declared Man of the Tournament after the World Cup win at home in April for scoring 362 runs and grabbing 15 wickets in nine matches. The World Cup star played in two of the three home Tests against the West Indies in November, but was not picked for the ongoing four-Test series in Australia.
On their last tour of Australia in 2007-08, an MS Dhoni-led India won the Commonwealth Bank Series, which also involved Sri Lanka, by beating Ricky Ponting's Australia 2-0 in the best-of-three finals, played in Sydney and Brisbane.
India currently trail 0-2 in the four-Test series. The second Test starts in Perth on January 13.
