Bangalore: A cash-rich Wednesday followed a happy Tuesday for Yuvraj Singh who, after being named in India's World T20 squad, got richer by Rs. 14 crore - the highest paid to any cricketer so far in the new season - when Royal Challengers Bangalore successfully bid for him on Day 1 of the IPL 2014 players auction.
Yuvraj played for now-defunct Pune Warriors India after making his IPL debut as captain of Kings XI Punjab in 2008. But owing to some differences with the team management, the stylish left-hander parted ways with the Punjab franchise.
But after RCB captain Kohli made his desire for Yuvraj apparent to his employers, Vijay Mallya went all out for the southpaw after the auction started with his base price of Rs. 2 crore.
Yuvraj was part of the first set of 16 marquee players divided into two groups.
