Nadaun: Himachal Pradesh's decision of opting to field back-fired, as Andhra posted 331 for 7 on day one of the round three Ranji Trophy match here on Saturday.
Veteran Amol Mazumdar (101) and B Sumanth (102) scored centuries and took the Himachal bowlers to the cleaners and piled on runs. Himachal got three wickets early, but the fourth-wicket partnership between Mazumdar and Sumanth made things hard for the home team. For Himachal, Vikramjeet Malik and Rishi Dhawan took three wickets each.

In Malappuram, it was a mixed day for Kerala, as at the end of day one they were 211 for 5. Kerala's top-order batsmen got starts but failed to make it big and played a slow and steady game till stumps. In Jamshedpur, Jharkhand made a decent 222 for 2 at stumps on day one against Goa. After electing to bat, Jharkhand openers did the job for their team by putting up a partnership of 123. Both the Jharkhand openers - MS Vardhan (73) and Sunny Gupta (53) kept the Goa bowlers at bay. Ishank Jaggi (56) and Saurabh Tiwary (34) were at the crease at the end of day's play.
