My behaviour was totally correct: SRK

Mumbai: Bollywood superstar and co-owner of the IPL franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, has denied he was drunk during an alleged altercation with security personnel at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday night and called on security to apologize to him. Terming the behavior of Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials as "abrasive" Khan said that they misbehaved with his children, which prompted his outburst.

"They [the MCA] should apologize to me, as they with misbehaved with me," Khan told reporters in Mumbai. "I was not drunk. It is wrong to say I was under the influence of alcohol. I went to pick up my children. As they were misbehaving with children, they were abusive [and] I got angry as they were abusing. Yes I was abusing as they were insulting me. I don't want to repeat what he was saying as it will give colour to issue. It started by other man then only I abused back.

"All of them [security personnel] charged at me. I am disturbed that they behaved in this manner with children, it’s unpardonable in the name of security they misbehaved."

On Wednesday night, Khan allegedly misbehaved with a security guard and pushed him. When MCA officials tried to intervene, he is said to have abused them. Following the controversial incident after the IPL match between Khan’s team and Mumbai Indians – which KKR won – the joint secretary of the MCA, Nitin Dalal, lodged a complaint at Mumbai's Marine Drive police station and a decision on whether to impose a life ban on Khan from entering the Wankhede Stadium will be taken later next week.

A non-cognisable offence has been registered against Khan under Section 306, 323 of the Indian Penal Code and the Mumbai police have began an inquiry into the alleged scuffle. According to Assistant Police Commissioner Iqbal Shaikh, police officers reached Wankhede on Wednesday night soon after they were informed about the alleged misbehaviour of Khan with MCA officials.

"We were told that Khan had entered the ground with some children after the match was over. When security guards objected, the actor allegedly manhandled guards and used abusive language against officials of MCA, the cricket board, security guards and a woman who is yet to be identified," said Shaikh. "We were also informed that the actor was under the influence of alcohol. Even I could smell alcohol while taking away Khan in a vehicle to another place outside the stadium."

However, Shaikh refused to comment when asked if Khan would be called for questioning.

An agitated Khan said he would rather not return to the venue. "If this is the behavior [at the Wankhede] then I myself don’t want to go there,” he told reporters. “It doesn’t make difference in my life if they ban my entry in stadium. My lawyer will do what is required, if they go for legal action."
