But the explosive batsman is set to miss the first match against the IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders.
Delhi: Delhi Daredevils' opener Virender Sehwag has been declared fit to play in the upcoming Champions League T20 tournament, starting on Tuesday in South Africa, but he could miss the first match against the IPL champions, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
The explosive batsman, who earlier in the year handed over Delhi's captaincy to Sri Lanka's Mahela Jayawardene for the tournament, will leave for Johannesburg in a couple of days, Mail Today reported.
Sehwag, 33, will, however, undergo another assessment on his left troublesome ankle on reaching South Africa. He injured his ankle while celebrating the dismissal of South Africa’s Jacques Kallis’ in the World T20 match in the Super Eights.
“There's no problem with Sehwag's MRI; it showed no concerning results. He is fit enough to go with the team. He will leave for South Africa in a couple of days," a source told Mail Today.
"He will have another assessment by the DD's support staff in South Africa. At most, he might miss the first match against KKR on Saturday in Centurion."
