Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar on Monday lavished praises on his Mumbai team-mates for winning the Ranji Trophy title for the record 40th time. "We won for the 40th time. Mumbai has again showed that it is a champion side. We have a good team, nice blend of youngsters and senior players," Tendulkar said after Mumbai’s massive, an innings and 125 run victory over Saurashtra in the final..
Tendulkar said it’s a victory not just for the players but for the administrators as well who too had put a lot of efforts throughout the season. "It is a wonderful moment for Mumbai cricket, not just for the players but also for the administrative side. It's been a team work and I take this opportunity to congratulate every one and hope it continues," Tendulkar, who has been part of five Ranji triumphs out of six appearances, said.
Tendulkar also commended the character shown by his Mumbai team-mates, especially with not so good league stage. "There were moments when the going was tough, but that is when the team stuck together and performed brilliantly."
He also praised the way Ajit Agarkar led the side, especially after the tumultuous season he had last year. “I feel very happy, especially for Ajit Agarkar, who had a rough season last year. It was really difficult for him. But this season he led from the front and led beautifully. He performed when it mattered. The team supported him right through along with the support staff," he added.
Tendulkar made 137 in the season opener against Railways. Following his retirement from ODIs, he scored 108 and 9 in the quarter-final draw with Baroda and 56 in the semi-final win over Services. He could only make 22 before getting run out in the final here.
