Tough test for India in T20 warm-up

India would like to keep the winning momentum going when they take on arch-rivals Pakistan in their second World Twenty20 warm-up.

Colombo: All eyes will be on Gautam Gambhir on whether the Indian opener takes the field or rests when India take on arch-rival Pakistan in a crucial warm-up game in Colombo on Monday.

Gambhir got retired hurt when he was hit by a Lasith Malinga delivery in India's first practice game on Saturday. And although nothing more than a bruise came out in the x-ray after the match, India may not risk him.

Monday's game will also provide another opportunity to the Indian top order which misfired against Sri Lanka, with Virender Sehwag (12), Suresh Raina (12), Virat Kohli (8) and Yuvrj Singh (11) having got out cheaply. India were reduced to 51 for 4 before the pair of Rohit Sharma and skipper MS Dhoni got together and forged a crucial 78-run stand.

Indian bowlers, who had a good match practice as they were able to defend the total of 146, will want the Pakistan batsmen to test them more than what the Sri Lankans did on Saturday.

Pakistan, who are upbeat after their Twenty20 series win over Australia in the UAE recently, will want to start the campaign with a win.

The practice game, which is the only warm-up game shown live on television, is a masterstroke by the organisers as the two teams may not meet in the main tournament, considering the volatile format of the game in which even the top team can go out at any stage.
