    Tour game: India reach 327/7 at stumps

    Abhinav Mukund struck a fine 113 for India in their tour match against Northamptonshire.

    Northampton: Abhinav Mukund struck a brilliant 113 as India progressed to 327/7 at stumps in their two day tour match against Northamptonshire on Friday.

    Mukund struck 18 boundaries and was involved in a 132 run partnership with VVS Laxman for the third wicket which allowed the visitors to dominate proceedings.

    Amit Mishra on 48 and S Sreesanth on 15 were the not out batsmen at the end of the day.

    India lost the wickets of skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni (2) and Suresh Raina (33) in quick succession in the post tea session.

    Both batsmen were caught behind by wicketkeeper D Murphy off the bowling of L Evans, after Mukund retired hurt for a fine 113.

    India lost their seventh wicket when Zaheer Khan was caught by RA White off the bowling of PM Best for 12, after Wriddhiman Saha became the third Indian batsmen to be dismissed after tea when he was run out for 15.

    Earlier, Mukund brought up a well deserved century as India went into tea at 220/3.

    VVS Laxman fell for 49 as he was caught by RI Newton off the bowling of LM Daggett after a solid partnership with Mukund.

    The visitors lost the wickets of both their openers, Gautam Gambhir and Virender Sehwag in the opening session, after Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first.

    While Gambhir was leg before wicket to DJ Willey for 18, Sehwag fell in the same fashion to DA Burton after making just eight.

    Rain on Thursday had denied the team any outdoor practice and the players ended up facing local bowlers in an indoor facility.
