There are still, five more matches and we will play with the same intensity that we showed in the past games, Sekar said.
Hyderabad: Delhi Daredevils have almost assured themselves of a place in the play-offs, but they are in no mood to take their Indian Premier League match against Deccan Chargers lightly. "T20 is such a funny game. Any team can beat any team. We are not taking it lightly at all. Because, we have only 16 points, I think you need 17 to qualify this year. There are still, four more matches to go apart from this one and we will play with the same intensity what have done in past," team mentor TA Sekar said.
He said that the pitch at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket stadium looks like a good batting wicket. The visitors are playing their first match this season at this ground. As far as Andre Russell's participation in Thursday's match is concerned, he said that the West Indian is a very good allrounder, adding that the playing XI is yet to finalised.
"Russel is fit. We have not decided our XI. Potentially, he is a very good allrounder. He can bat well, very good number six, seven batsman. He can also bowl well. We are working on his bowling. He did not get a chance to play in the first ten games but he is still very focussed."
Asked if that the team have learnt any lessons from the last match, he said: "If we had scored 170, then we were driving a good game. Kolkata played very well. They had a very good opening partnership. We came back quite well getting two wickets in two balls but we had very less runs on the board. Maybe, we were about 20 runs short last time."
Acknowledging the absence of Kevin Pietersen, he said the team has an able replacement in David Warner. "Definitely, we miss Pietersen. We brought Warner as replacement. He got back-to-back two hundreds in CLT20. Pietersen batted at number three and Warner bats at number one. It does not matter much," he said. He added that the DD have a pace-oriented attack with Morne Morkel and Varun Aaron among others in the side.
