Champions League: ManU, Inter, Arsenal win easily

New Delhi: Manchester United, Inter Milan and Arsenal had an easy time against their opponents in their Champions League matches on Tuesday night.

In the Group F encounter at the NSC Olympiyskiy Stadium in Kiev, Manchester United despite playing away from home did not have much trouble as they won easily by a 4-2 margin.

Rio Ferdinand was the first player to get his name on the scoresheet when he headed home a Ryan Giggs freekick in the 10th minute to give Mannchester United their first goal. And then Wayne Rooney doubled the lead with a simple tap-in from a Wes Brown cross eight minutes later.

Kiev pulled one back through a header from Diogo Rincon but Christiano Ronaldo gave the visitors a 3-1 advantage going into the second half.

Even though Kiev added a second in the 78th minute, the class of United was too much and they finally lost 2-4 to a superior side.

Arsenal, another club from England that was in action on Tuesday night, romped home 7-0 against Champions League debutants Slavia Prague in the Group H match at the Emirates Stadium in London.

The victory margin equalled the competition's biggest-ever win which was Juventus' 2003 demolition of Olympiakos.

Theo Walcott, Francesc Fabregas and Alexander Hleb each scored two goals as Slavia Prague had no answer to the Gunners firepower.

A powerful shot from Fabregas in the 5th minute opened the floodgates for the Gunners. After the second goal in the 24th minute it was just one-way traffic, as Arsene Wenger's side pumped in five more goals including a double strike from Theo Walcott, to seal a 7-0 win.

In another match, Inter Milan beat CSKA Moscow to top Group G. CSKA Moscow who grabbed a lead late in the first half when Brazilian striker Jo Alves' strike in the 32nd-minute saw the back of the net.

But the home side were let down by poor defending.

Hernan Crespo drilled in a 52nd-minute equaliser after a clumsy clearance by the goalkeeper and it was followed by fellow Argentine Walter Samuel's soft header that gave Inter Milan a 2-1 win.

However, Barcelona's match against Rangers saw no goals. Both teams remain unbeaten in the Champions League after the goalless draw in the Group E match.

With Lionel Messi, Ronaldinho and Thierry Henry playing upfront, Barcelona attacked from the start and had the first chance but a Gudjohnsen header went over the bar in the sixth minute.

And that remained the case in the entire match as both teams were unable to score. The night though clearly belonged to the Rangers goalkeeper who made some excellent save to help his team hold their own against Frank Rijkaard's team.
