Podolski and Lars Bender scored two goals each inside the opening 24 minutes as Germany quickly overwhelmed the Ecuador defense in the match at FAU Stadium.
Ecuador pulled a goal back through Luis Valencia in first-half stoppage time and Walter Ayovi scored his team's second goal in the 83rd minute.
Immediately after Ecuador had kicked off, Podolski won possession and dribbled a couple of steps before unleashing a shot past goalkeeper Maximo Banguera. Bender made it 2-0 in the fourth minute and Podolski struck again in the 16th.
Germany will finish their two-game American visit against the United States on Sunday in Washington, D.C.
