13 terrorists killed in 8-day long encounter in Kashmir

REMAINS OF THE DAY: A huge quantity of arms and explosives were recovered fro the dead terrorists.
Kashmir: In one of the longest encounters ever in Kashmir, Army gunned down 13 terrorists in the Bandipore district of Kashmir.
The Army fought pitched battle with the terrorists from September 24 till October 1 in the inhospitable terrain at peaks as high as 15000 feet.
The terrorists were hiding in caves and five units of the Army including personnel from special forces to corner them on one of the peaks of Harmukh mountains.
The identity of the terrorists is being ascertained and the clearing operation for recovery of the two of the 13 bodies is still on.
An unit of para commandos was also flown in to the encounter site to take on the terrorists.
"The firefight carried on from September 24 till October 1. In the first encounter we killed three terrorists and by October we were able to kill all 13 terrorists," Major General VSS Gaudar, GoC, 5th Kilo Force, explained.
