New Delhi: The Delhi Police have claimed to have seized 22 kgs of heroin from three Amritsar-based alleged drug traffickers, worth Rs 22 crore in the international market.
Acting on a tip off, the police conducted a search in a parking lot in North Delhi on Thursday. They arrested three persons who were waiting to deliver the drugs to an unidentified buyer.
However, the police are still on the lookout for the mastermind of the drug smuggling racket.
The arrest came after sleuths of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) on Tuesday seized 20 kg heroin from a house in Moon Avenue, Amritsar and arrested two persons, including a woman for the same.
Sources said that the DRI on specific information raided a house in the Moon Avenue locality and recovered the heroin consignment of 20 kg.
Two persons, including a woman identified as Manjit Kaur, were taken into custody. Both were later booked under the NDPS Act by the Punjab Police.
Sources said that it was on the interrogation of the woman, that the DRI informed its Delhi office of another 20 kg having been delivered in the National Capital.
