New Delhi: While the fight for justice for the 1984 riot victims continues, there are some who have not lost hope.

An 83-year-old father has come all the way from Canada to depose at a city court in Delhi.

Swarna Singh Bhatia was forced to leave the city after he witnessed the murder of his son.

“I saw the killing,” said Bhatia, breaking down.

“During all this, the police were present. They crossed my house, but they didn’t do anything. Nobody came to our help,” he told CNN-IBN.

Bhatia said that that was the last straw and he emigrated to Canada.

“I left the house after that. I became a refugee for the second time. The first time (was) when I came from Pakistan, and then the second time in my own country,” he said.
