Hyderabad: She is known for her acting skills, but Tollywood has caught Tabu in a brand new avatar in the film Idee Sangati.
Though the actress plays a middle class home-maker in the film, she has done a song sequence where she does a Rekha a la Utsav — right down to the itsy bitsy costume.
Needless to say, the song is already a hit besides adding to the film's curiosity quotient.
However, the director of Tabu's Telegu starrer, Chandra Siddhartha, admits that roping in the actress was no easy task.
"After two internationally-acclaimed films like Namesake and Cheeni Kum, Tabu has been very selective about her scripts and roles and I am happy that she liked this script, the theme of the film and the style of the film," says Siddhartha.
Idee Sangati, which hits the screens this week is a comic take on corruption, bureaucracy and other such banes of daily life.
It also stars Tamil heroes Abbas and Raja. Abbas had earlier shared screen space with Tabu in the hit Tamil flick, Kandukondein Kandukondein.
