BREACH OF TRUST: Sushil Sharma, a Delhi politician murdered his wife Naina Sahani in 1995.
Some cases from the past where family members took the lives of their loved ones:
April 2008: The recent triple murder in Delhi. The accused Nitin Verma allegedly stabbed his father, mother and wife after they objected to his extra-marital relationship. The fact that he was an adopted son came out during the investigations.
April 2008: Shabnam Ali along with her boyfriend hacked seven members of her own family to death . This happened in a village near Amroha in Uttar Pradesh. Shabnam strangled her two year old niece with her own hands.
March 2008: A 30 year old Techie Amit Budhiraja employed with Infosys in Bangalore alledgely smothered his wife wife Rinku with a pillow. Amit suspected her of having an affair with a colleague. Amit committed suicide immediately after killing his wife.
December 2007: A chartered accountant turned killer. Rohit Pagare first killed his wife in a fit of anger and then stuffed her body in a suitcase. Later he drove around Gurgaon and went to office even when his wife lay dead in the bonnet of his car.
July 1995: Tandoor Murder case: Sushil Sharma, a Delhi politician murdered his wife Naina Sahani after he suspected her of having an extra marital affair . But what shocked the world was the way in which he hacked her body into pieces and tried to burn them in a tandoor at a Hotel in the heart of Delhi.
None of these people had any past criminal records. They did not kill anyone on a shady street or in a dark bylane. In fact the killer within emerged in a place where no one expected it: inside their homes.
