New Delhi: The first two casualties were reported on Monday in the protests against the Jammu and Kashmir government's decision to revoke the Amarnath forestland transfer order.

A BJP protestor succumbed to injuries in Bhaderwah district on Sunday.

He was one of the 50 people injured last Wednesday when a grenade was hurled on some 400 BJP activists and temple committee members returning to Laxmi Narain temple in the district after a rally.

Another protestor succumbed to injuries at a Jammu hospital on Monday.

Thirty-two-year old Ramesh had jumped from a three-story building in Jammu when police were reportedly chasing him. An inquiry has been ordered into the incident.

BJP President, Rajnath Singh and senior BJP leader, Arun Jaitley arrived in Jammu on Sunday to visit the injured protestors.

The party has outrightly said that the Amarnath forestland transfer was a poll issue and if voted to power in the state, they would divert the land back to the Shrine Board.

Appeasing the sentiment in Jammu region, the BJP has also said that Article 370 should be abolished in the state.

Agitations also hit the Capital on Sunday, with Kashmiri protestors vandalising the residence of Union Water Resources Minister, Saifuddin Soz. They barged into his home and smashed windown panes and other articles.
