New Delhi: The Amarnath land row tension has now passed on to the rest of India and especially in Ambala where the Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s (VHP) chakka jam over the Amarnath land controversy led to the death of a 70-year-old man.

“I have been stuck here for over two hours. How will I get to work? They have made a fun out of this issue. A country doesn’t develop like this,” says a Delhi local.

The two-hour long nationwide call for 'chakka jam' called by VHP and Bajrang Dal brought life to a standstill on Wednesday.

Seventy-year-old heart patient Gainda Ram died in an ambulance which was taking him to a Ambala hospital from his village.. The ambulance got caught in the ’chakka jam' called by Hindu organisations in solidarity with the people in Jammu.

In Delhi, many protestors carrying Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and VHP flags, including women activists of the Sangh Parivar, blocked the Delhi-Jaipur highway and Delhi-Noida bridge over the Yamuna river for a brief period, which resulted in massive jams.

A lady who was also a part of the protest in Delhi said, “We are in it because we are Hindus. This was just a two-hour ordeal. Think of the Hindus in Jammu who have been facing hardship for the last 40 days.”

This protest also provoked many road rages across the country. Two women were caught fighting like cats in the capital. But there were some who just watched this show of strength or met their old friends in the jam or started talking in their mobiles.

And, there were some whose daily routine was not affected by the jam. Like, commuters in East Delhi simply got off their buses and walked to their office in Central Delhi.
