Bangalore: Former tennis star and commentator Vijay Amritraj has entered the fray in India's Davis Cup controversy.
Mahesh Bhupathi, Rohan Bopanna and Prakash Amritraj had earlier written a letter to All India Tennis Federation saying they will not play under captain Leander Paes.
Amritraj has now come out in support of this stand, saying that all the players want to do is play for India.
"The one thing these guys always wanted to do was to play Davis Cup and, to some extend, they were sidetrakced with a lot of other issues, from whatever is there on the table. So, in their conversation with me, I have been very specific about saying to them, 'listen, our only goal is to play Davis Cup, to play the tie, to win as much as we possibly can, and be prepared for it by playing tournaments, and give us the ability to do it," Amritraj said on the sidelines of the WTA Bangalore Open that concluded on Sunday.
