Chess Maestro Viswanathan Anand has had a brilliant season so far. After winning the Linares Chess tournament, Anand also became the Number One chess player in the world.
But he is already looking forward to achieving more and Mexico World championships is what he is focusing on at the moment.
"I think I am one of the favourites but there are really quite a lot. In fact, it is difficult to rule anyone out because the field in quiet close. But I think i should have reasonable chances but it depends on your form on the day," said Anand.
Aniek Paul: What do you think of chess in India? There are lots of players and 15 Grandmasters at the moment. So, do you see a second Anand coming up?
Anand: I think both -- Harikrishna and Sasikiran are knocking on 2700. In fact, Sasi has already been up and down and now again he is trying to go up. So, both of them and also people like Ganguly and Chanda. So we have five or six people who stand a chance.
Aniek Paul You are at 2786 at the moment. 2800 -- the magic figures is 14 points away. How long do you think it's going to take you to reach there?
Anand: Well! it's funny. I was there once but after the Olympiad it went all the way back. But now I have recovered some points. So, hopefully, I will be at 2790 in July and then let's see about these 10 points. But I am not really focusing on those 10 points, I am focusing on the world Championship."
