Mumbai Former British commando Duncan Grant and two of his associates have been found guilty of child abuse in the Anchorage sexual abuse case.

They have been found guilty under Sections 373, 374 and 377 of the IPC, which deals with kidnapping for sexual abuse and unnatural sexual acts.

Sessions Court Judge P S Paranjape handed down guilty verdicts against Grant and fellow Allan Waters.

Grant, who had set up the Colaba Anchorage Shelter Home in 1995-96, has been given six years of rigorous imprisonment. He is also to give £20,000 (Rs 15,55,031) as compensation to the children.

Both Grant and Waters had left the country when the case came to light. Waters was deported from US in 2004 to India after Interpol issued red-corner notice against the duo. Grant had shifted his base to Tanzania at this point.

Grant faced child-abuse allegations even in Tanzania (where he had set up similar shelter house) and he was deported to Britain. He returned to India in June 2005 and surrendered before the police.

The Judge also found an Indian, William D'souza, who managed the Colaba Anchorage Shelter Home, guilty of aiding and abetting the crime.

D'souza was arrested in 2001 an later released on bail.
